Tipton Beats Bluebirds At Kaysinger Tournament

Second seeded Tipton beat the Bluebirds 6-2 in the semifinals of the Kaysinger Conference tournament at Cole Camp on Monday night of last week. Rain washed out the rest of the tournament for the week.

Tipton got 1 run in the first, 2 in the second, 2 in the third and 1 in the sixth.

The Bluebirds tried to make a comeback in the seventh scoring 2, but as they say, it was too little, too late.

Lucas Cashman was brilliant on the mound for 4 innings giving up 2 hits, striking out 10 and walking 1. He threw 41 strikes out of 60 pitches. Payten Pyle pitched 3 innings in relief giving up 3 hits, 2 runs, striking out 4 and walking 1. Both teams made 3 errors.

With 2 out in the seventh, Tipton's defense faltered. Ty Loganbill walked, Cody Dewitt singled. Loganbill would score on error. Drew Burke reached on an error and Reid Harrison singled, scoring Dewitt from third.

Blake Abey gave up 1 hit and 5 runs, 3 earned over 2.1 innings. He struck out 4 and walked 7.
