Warsaw Baseball Takes Third At OHC Tournament

After beating up on Skyline last Monday in a 15-5 final, the Wildcats began their 2024 OHC tournament with a 5-0 win over Sherwood on Thursday.

The Wildcats got on the board in the bottom of the second inning when they went up 2-0 on 2 fielder's choice balls hit by Ryan Fajen and Jase Hubert.

Warsaw added 1 more run in the third on a Garrett Ferguson walk that scored D'Angelo Ramirez.

The Wildcats final 2 runs came in the bottom of the fourth when Jayce Depriest reached on an error scoring Hubert and then Depriest came around to score on a passed ball for the 5-0 final.

Hubert, Devon Boul and Logan Gemes provided the only hits of the night for the Green and Black.

Fajen also earned the mound win by going 3.1. He gave up 0 runs on 1 hit and struck out 3. Ferguson toed the rubber in relief.

The Wildcats bats were stymied in their semifinal when they took on the Butler Bears and lost by a 4-0 final.

Warsaw mustered just 3 hits in the loss, 1 each off the bats of Garrett Ferguson, Logan Gemes and Ryan Fajen.

Josh Bunch tookt he loss for Warsaw by going 6 innings, surrendering 4 runs (1 earned) on 4 hits. He also struck out 3.

The Wildcats had their way with Eldorado Springs in the third place game of the tournament when they dismantled the Bulldogs, 18-0 in just 4 innings.

Garrett Ferguson drove in 5 runs on 2 hits, including an inside-the-park grand slam homerun in the second inning.

Warsaw plated 13 runs in the fourth to run away with the win. Ferguson, doubled to score 2 runs, Devon boul homered to drive in 2 more, Jayce Depriest tripled to score 3 runs and Ryan Fajen scored 1 on a single. The Wildcats also took advantage of 2 errors, 1 hit-by-pitch, and 2 walks in the big inning.

Ferguson, Depriest and Boul all collected 2 hits while 1 each was racked by Kendall Bagley, Logan Gemes, Fajen, Jase Hubert and Sonny Garrett.

Fajen also earned the win on the mound. He went the first 3 innings and allowd 0 runs on 1 hit and struck out 4. Ferguson threw 1 inningin relief and struck out 2.

The Wildcats played at Eldon on Tuesday night. The result of that contest was unavailable as of Benton County Enteprise press time.

They'll then travel to Lone Jack on Wednesday, Clinton on Friday and are scheduled to host Adrian on Monday night.
