JBMS "B" Girls Finish First, "A" Takes Second At OHC Tourney

COMING IN HOT, the JBMS volleyball teams traveled to Butler on Saturday to take on the Ozark Highlands Conference in it's middle school tournament.  The Ladycats "B" team claimed the championship and the "A" team came in second to only Versailles in a 2-1 match (17-25, 26-24, 11-15).  Both teams have matches left at Eldorado Springs and Lincoln before hosting Butler. They'll conclude their seasons in the JBMS Tournament.

JBMS Wildcats Still Undefeated After Manhandling Sherwood

IT WAS A JUMP BALL for the Wildcats Brecken Brewster as he went up between two Marksmen defenders, came away with the ball and scored on a long TD in a 34-0 rout last Tuesday night.  Brewster accounted for 4 of JBMS' 5 touchdowns on the night.  Johrdan Decker also scored on a nifty run.  The Wildcats remain unbeaten and hosted Buffalo on Tuesday night.  That result will be in next week's edition of the Benton County Enterprise.
 

Warsaw Shocked By Hogan Prep In Final Minute

In a back-and-forth battle on Saturday morning, the Wildcats let one get away from them when Hogan Prep Academy scored with under one minute left in the game to narrowly nip Warsaw sending them on a long bus trip home with a 22-21 loss.
 
The Wildcats led 7-0 after a 7 yard touchdown run by Jayce Depriest and a Logan Gemes PAT with three minutes remaining in the first frame.

Warsaw volleyball's record tumbled to just 2-6 after playing at new OHC opponent Versailles last Tuesday, losing in three straight sets 13-25, 25-27 and 21-25.
 
The Ladycats coaching staff is hopeful that mixing in some young, new talent may provide a boost to their floor.

The Lincoln Cardinals, still shorthanded even after picking up some extra players from their student body, traveled to Adrian on Friday night. 
 
The Blackhawks, even without their starting QB, ran over Lincoln 48-8 to remain undefeated at 5-0.
 
It was 14-0 after one, 21-8 at half, 34-8 after three and 48-8 after the final horn sounded.
 

Lincoln JV Beats Sacred Heart, Varsity Falls

The Lincoln Lady Cardinals hosted a good Sacred Heart volleyball team Tuesday night. The Lady Gremlins won 25-14, 25-10 and 25-14.
 
In the first set, senior captain Sammy Altena got her 1,000th career assist for Sacred Heart. The game was stopped for pictures and a brief celebration.
 
Sacred Heart's Avery Epple went 25-25 serving with four aces and 22 points. 
 
Lincoln played well at times but the lack of size and inexperience came into play. The varsity fell to 2-7. 
 

Bluebirds Give Late Score, Lose To Versailles

It was a great night for fall football as the weather cooperated in the midst of the recent thunderstorms. The huge homecoming crowd was treated to a great game but not a happy outcome as Versailles came from behind to defeat Cole Camp 24-18 on Friday night.
 
Cole Camp took the lead in the  first on a 17 yard run from Reid Harrison on the left side behind good blocking from the Bluebirds. The PAT was no good as it was from both teams all game long.

Wildcats Escape Homecoming Week With Win Over Sherwood

A win is a win, no matter how pretty or ugly, they say . . . And the Wildcats were happy to escape with the latter on Friday night when they came out on top of a 26-14 final over Sherwood, putting the cap on a long Homecoming week. 
 
"We'll take it," Warsaw head coach Ryan Boyer said.  "We're 3-1 now and 2-0 in the conference.  And we always like to break the season into thirds. Right now, we're 1-0 in the middle third of our season and we're happy with where we're at."
