Arnold L. Hessefort

Arnold L. Hessefort, age 79, of Lincoln, MO, passed away Thursday, February 1, 2018 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, MO. He was born in Kenosha County, Wisconsin, on May 1, 1938, the son of the late Anthony B. and O. Pauline (Vaughan) Hessefort.
At a very young age his family moved to Missouri and Arnold graduated from Warsaw High School with the class of 1956. While in high school, Arnold was on the high school basketball team.
In September of 1958, he was married to Darlene Holmes. They made their home in Warsaw and unto this union, one daughter, Robyn, was born.
He was a meat cutter by trade and began working for Clyde Dyer at the Bargain Spot Grocery in Warsaw. He then moved to Kansas City where he was meat department manager at Kroger’s Grocery for several years returning to Warsaw and purchasing the Bargain Spot Grocery Store. Later Arnold returned to the Kansas City area and was employed by Wild Woody’s for many years.
On September 24, 1983, he was united in marriage to Onnie Vaughn at the First Baptist Church in Branson, MO. They made their home in Lawson, MO and following his retirement in 2003, they moved to Lincoln, MO.  Retirement life was not for Arnold and he soon began working for the Lincoln R-2 School District as a bus driver and later as transportation manager, retiring in September of last year due to health issues.
Arnold spent many enjoyable hours doing woodwork and camping. He especially enjoyed his annual hunting trips with his brothers.  Arnold loved his family and cherished the times they were together.
He is survived by his wife, Onnie, of the home, four children, Robyn (Dwaine) Kendrick of Warsaw, Christie (Kevin) Vorderstrasse of St. Peter’s, MO, Scott (Bev) Hessefort and Kevin (Kristen) Shelton, all of Kansas City, MO, 10 grandchildren and one great-grandson. Also surviving are three brothers, Milton (Sharon) Hessefort of Blue Springs, MO, Dale (Pat) Hessefort of Lamar, MO, and Joe (Sherry) Hessefort of Springfield, MO, and a sister, Florence (Jack) Dieckman of Cole Camp, MO, many nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.
Memorial services for Arnold Hessefort will be Wednesday evening, February 7, 2018, at 6:30 P.M. at the Davis-Miller Funeral Home in Lincoln, MO. Family will receive friends Wednesday, beginning at 5:00 P.M., at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Benton County Cancer Fund in care of the Davis-Miller Funeral Home, P.O.
