Cole Camp jumped out early in a very physical match up with Boonville in the opening round of district play at Cole Camp on Wednesday night. However, after leading 14-8 after one and 26-21 at the half, they trailed 37-34 after three. The Bluebirds would fall to a tough Boonville club 56-45.
It was a closer game than indicated by the final score. Both teams raced up and down the court in the second half with the Bluebirds going ice cold from the floor in the final ticks of the clock.
The referees let the players play at times with a bump or two driving the lane was seemingly permitted without calling a foul. It was probably the way a playoff game should be called as both teams battled for loose balls and were allowed to play without the ticky tacky calls that sometimes influence the outcome of a contest.
Karen Harms had 13 and Ethan Ives 12 to lead the Bluebirds. Charue Bronaksowki had 16 for Boonville. Avery Reardon at 6’4 had nine points and was a real force at times under the basket for Boonville.
