Commission Adopts Purchasing Policy

The Benton County Commission adopted a purchasing policy to the Capital Improvement Fund at their January 2 meeting.
This proposal reads “All purchases from any office requesting expenditure from the Courthouse portion of the Capital Improvement fund shall be required to get prior approval from the Commission on any expenditure.”
In other business, District 2 Commissioner Jim Hansen made a motion to appoint District 1 Commissioner Dale Jr. Estes to serve as county representative on the University Extension Council board.  The motion passed.
The Commission appointed Jim Hansen to serve as county representative on the West Central Community Action Agency Board.
The Commission also appointed Presiding Commissioner Steve Daleske to serve as county representative on the Kaysinger Regional Planning Commission.
The Commission appointed Commissioner Estes and Commissioner Hansen to serve as county representatives on the full council of the Quad Lakes Solid Waste District.
The Commission appointed Commissioner Hansen to serve as county representative on the executive board of Quad Lakes Solid Waste District.
The Commission appointed Presiding Commissioner Daleske to serve as county representative on the Workforce Development Board.
The Commission voted to appoint County Clerk Susan Porterfield as coordinator of the drug and alcohol testing program.
The normal meeting day for the Benton County Commission will be Mondays, beginning at 9 AM.
Preparation of the 2019 budget continued as the Commissioners discussed revenues and expenses of each department.  County Treasurer Rick Renno and County Clerk Susan Porterfield submitted 2018 final budget totals.
Sheriff Eric Knox met with the Commission to discuss 2019 budget requests.  Major Jeff Canfield, Lt. Dean Noll, and secretary Michele Bruns were also present.
