The Warsaw High School Music and Drama departments will present “The Addams Family Musical” on the WHS stage on November 7 and 8.
THE ADDAMS FAMILY, a comical feast that embraces the wackiness in every family, features an original story and it’s every father’s nightmare: Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has grown up and fallen in love with a sweet, smart young man from a respectable family– a man her parents have never met. And if that wasn’t upsetting enough, Wednesday confides in her father and begs him not to tell her mother. Now, Gomez Addams must do something he’s never done before– keep a secret from his beloved wife, Morticia. Everything will change for the whole family on the fateful night they host a dinner for Wednesday’s “normal” boyfriend and his parents.
Vocal director Deanna Schockmann said this musical was selected because it not like anything they had ever done before.  “It is not the traditional musical.”Schockmann said.  “We opened up tryouts to the entire school instead of just the music department so we have a few cast members who are new to our stage.”
Drama coach Amanda Helveg is assisting Schockmann as co-director.
The cast includes:  Grady Miller, Gomez; Lauren Kreisel, Morticia; Gabrielle Porter, Wednesday; Sabrina Uptgraft, Pugsley; Grant Miller,  Fester; Logan Schockmann, Lurch; Kyleigh Hines, Grandma; Dakota Steinhoff, Lucas Beineke; Benny Kowal, Mal Beineke; Samantha Pearman, Alice Beineke.
Social distancing will be observed as the audience will be seated in the permanent bleachers as well as the folding bleachers and in groups of 6 in pods on the gym floor.  The cast will be wearing masks when they are not performing.
Performances are Saturday, Nov. 7 at 2 pm and 7 p.m. and Sunday, Nov. 8 at 7 p.m. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for students or children 4 years to 10. Children three and under are free. Tickets are available at the door or in advance from any cast member. All performances will be held in the Warsaw High School gymnasium.
