George Lamon Newton, Jr.

George Lamon Newton, Jr., age 84, of Warsaw, Missouri, passed away peacefully with his wife by his side on Thursday, January 4, 2018. He was born on February 20, 1933, in Quitman, Arkansas, to the late Emma and George L. Newton, Sr.
 George was an employee of Ford Motor Company in Kansas City, Missouri from 1952-1982. He was also a faithful and active member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church in Warsaw.  He was a committed member of the Masonic Lodge of Warsaw where he served as Master of Shawnee Lodge #653. George also served proudly in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict from 1953-1955 and shared many stories of his time as a Soldier with his children and grandchildren.
George had a particular passion for fishing, hunting and square dancing; he was also a member of the Raytown Bass Club. In addition, he taught gun safety to many Boy Scout - a legacy that will be passed on for many years. 
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Virginia, and his children, Brenda (John) Dawson, Georgina (Michael) Miller, as well as grandchildren, Emily Osborne, Kyle (Cecily) Mendenhall, Nathan (Katrina) Greer and Jackson Miller, also one sister Margaret Ball.
Funeral services for George were held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, January 8, 2018, at the Cedar Grove Baptist Church near Warsaw. A visitation was held one hour prior to the service at the church.  Memorial donations may be made to Cedar Grove Baptist Church or Twin Lakes Hospice, in care of Reser Funeral Home, PO Box 910, Warsaw, Mo. 65355.
