 Gloria N. Meyer was born on May 31, 1939, in Buffalo, Wyoming, the daughter of Chester Long and Hazel Marks Long, and passed away unexpectedly Friday, June 29, 2018, at Osage Beach Regional Hospital in Osage Beach, MO.
As a young girl, she moved with her parents to Missouri and attended school.
On June 23, 1957, she was united in marriage to Alvin Meyer at Zion Lutheran Church in Lincoln, MO. They spent their entire married life on a farm in the Lincoln-Warsaw area where they raised their family of one son and two daughters.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Lincoln where she had taught Sunday school and vacation bible school and for many years was the Chairman of the funeral dinners at the church. Gloria retired from the Benton County Health Department, working in home health care. She was also a hospice volunteer until her health failed.
Gloria enjoyed working with flowers and going to garage sales. She also enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren and great-grandchildren who loved her cookie baking.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Melvin Long and two sisters, Muriel Longfellow and Beatrice Fuller.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Alvin, of the home, one son, Paul Meyer, and his wife, Brenda, of Warsaw, two daughters, Susan Porterfield and her husband, Bill, of Warsaw, MO, and Adana Davis, and her husband, Phillip, of Republic, MO, three grandsons, Brandon Porterfield, Kyler Martin and Daniel Meyer, four great-grandchildren, Tyler, Addisyn, Harper and Hudson, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at Zion Lutheran Church, Lincoln, MO, at 11:00 A.M., Friday, July 6, 2018 with visitation beginning at 10:00 A.M. at the church.  Graveside services to follow.  Memorials may be made to the Lutheran Hour or Benton County Hospice in care of Davis-Miller Funeral Home, PO Box 400, Lincoln MO 65338.
