Over a thousand children and their parents filled Main Street in downtown Warsaw on Halloween night as they participated in the Warsaw Area Chamber of Commerce Halloween Hoopla.

“It was great to have the Chamber members coming together to create this event for the children in our area,” said Chamber Director Mac Vorce.  “The members thought it was important to give our children a safe venue to go trick or treating.”

Main Street was blocked off from Borings’ Drug Store all the way down to Warsaw Fitness to give the children a safe place to walk from business to business.

“This is just another example of our Chamber members making our community great,” said Vorce.  “A strong Chamber makes for a strong community.”

Twelve businesses were open to welcome the children and their parents to the downtown area:  Hawthorn Bank, Borings’ Drug Store, Tracey Spry & Associates CPA PC, World Finance, West Central Independent Living, Hildebrant’s, Primitive Old Crowe, Warsaw Antique Mall, Bill’s, Wooden Wagon, Eric’s Barber Shop, and Truman Lake Bikes.

In addition to the downtown businesses, several area businesses set up tents to hand out candy and other fun stuff.

“We enjoy seeing the children in their costumes,” said Dana Koll at Borings’ Drugs.  Koll has been working at Borings’ since 2000.

Jeri Cain at Hawthorn Bank said she and other employees dressed up to greet the children and enjoy the fun evening with them.  “We had to bundle up but it is always fun,” Cain said.

“This is a good example of the Chamber members coming together to do good things for the area,” Vorce concluded.
