James Harrison Lawson
James Harrison Lawson, age 73, of Ionia, Missouri passed away peacefully at his home on January 1, 2020 surrounded by his wife and his beloved puppies. He was born on May 22, 1946 in Independence, Missouri the son of William H. and Mary E. Lawson.
James grew up in Independence, Missouri and attended William Chrisman High School. He was employed as a union truck driver and was a member of teamsters local 41 in Kansas City. He also was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #2414 of Kansas City. He moved to Warsaw, Missouri upon his retirement in 2002.
He was a talented woodworker, an avid reader who through reading would learn something new every day. He also enjoyed playing golf and watching the Kansas City Chiefs. He was a Chiefs season ticket holder for the first 35 years the Chiefs played at Arrowhead Stadium. Fifteen years ago he became an active member of AA which was a life saving decision.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Wanda Lawson and his mother-in-law, Cathy Weatherman.
He is survived by his wife, Lisa Lawson, of the home, six children; Janet O’Reilley, of Colorado, Dwayne Foster, of Arizona, Fred Foster of Colorado, Roger Foster, of Arizona, Sharon Parizek, of Colorado and Steve Lawson of Kansas City. He is also survived by one brother, Larry Lawson of Cole Camp, Missouri along with several grandchildren, great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
Memorial services will be held at the Reser Funeral Home in Warsaw, Missouri on Saturday February 1, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. Memorial contributions may be made to the Benton County Cancer Fund or Hospice Compassus c/o Reser Funeral Home P.O. Box 910, Warsaw, Missouri 65355
