The Fifty-second Annual Jubilee Days begins this week.
According to Jubilee Days Chairman Chuck Allcorn, everyone on the committee is working hard to make sure the “Stars and Stripes Forever” Jubilee is a big success.
“We are very excited to have two free concerts at this year’s event,” Allcorn said.  “Dirt Road Addiction”, a Mid-Missouri band playing today’s Top 40 country mixed with old classic country hits, will be taking the big stage in front of the Warsaw Post Office from 8 PM until 11 PM on Friday, June 8.
“We have hired a professional sound and lighting crew to make this an even better show,” said Allcorn.
On Saturday night the “7 Bridges Road” will perform from 8:00 until 11 PM.  “7 Bridges Road” is a tribute band performing music from the Eagles and Credence Clearwater Revival.       Both concerts are free to the public.
One of the returning events is the Royalty Pageant for all ages of girls in the Warsaw R-9 School District.  Little Miss is for girls from pre-K through second grade; Junior Miss is for girls third grade through fifth grade; Princess is for girls sixth grade through eighth grade and the Jubilee Queen contest is for girls from ninth grade through the twelfth grade.
All girls who attend Warsaw schools are eligible to compete.  The Queen and Princess Contest will be on Thursday, June 7 at the Community Building at 7:30.  The Little Miss and Junior Miss Contest will be at the Community Building on Friday, June 8 at 5:30.
Another favorite competition is the Baby Jubilee Contest held at the Community Building on June 6 at 6 PM.  Babies must live in the Warsaw R-9 School District area.  Maximum age is 24 months.
The Jones and Company Carnival will be set up on Drake Harbor with rides and other attractions.  Four hour all you can ride wristbands will be sold for $20.  The wristbands will be good for Thursday, June 7, 6 PM until 10 PM; Friday, June 8, 6 PM until 10 PM; Saturday, June 9, 12 PM until 4 PM and then 5 PM until 9 PM.
The food court and craft tents will be open on Friday and Saturday.
The Annual Warsaw Jubilee Days 5K Run and 1 mile walk sponsored by Porter Chiropractic Clinic, P.C. and Hawthorn Bank will be held on Main Street.   On Saturday the registration for the 5K Run/1 Mile Walk starts at 6:45.  The race begins at 7:30.
Parade Registration will be from 7:00 AM until 10:30.  Judging for the parade will be from 7 until 9 AM.  Registration forms can be found on the Jubilee Days Facebook page or at the Chamber of Commerce office.
Turtle races will begin at 9 AM on Saturday followed by the bike races.  “We will be presenting trophies this year for the turtle and bike race winners,” said Allcorn.
The Jubilee Days parade will begin at 11 AM on Main Street.   Grand Marshall of this year’s parade is Sharon Guess. The Warsaw Shrine Club is sponsoring Hillbilly Bob and Old Ruthie throughout the event.  Old Ruthie is Bob’s trusty four door convertible 1929 Model A Ford.  The parade will be followed by the car show on the square.
The Karaoke Contest will begin after the parade at the Warsaw Community Building.
Helen Russell and Company will be performing on the Parade Stage on Main Street starting at noon.  The Morton Sisters will follow at 2 PM.
The Warsaw High School FFA Petting Zoo will be held on Harrison Street (lower Community Building parking lot).  The zoo will include rabbits, chickens, calves, goats, and many other farm animals.  WHS FFA members will be on hand to assist children as they play with the animals.
Allcorn pointed out that the Jubilee Days Committee appreciated sponsors and advertisers for their generous contributions to the Jubilee Days event.  “We would not be able to present the free concerts with the generous contributions we receive from members of our community.  We want to make this the best Jubilee Days we can and it wouldn’t be possible without the help of this community,” said Allcorn.
“Jubilee Days has something for everyone,” said Allcorn.  “Come out and enjoy the fun.”
