Kay Smith

Kay (Swift) Smith, age 71, of Warsaw, passed away Thursday, February 18, 2021, at the Sylvia G. Thompson Residence Center in Sedalia, MO.  She was born to Bill and Jane (Flippin) Swift on May 5, 1949 in Warsaw, Missouri.
Kay grew up in the Warsaw area and graduated from Warsaw High School with the class of 1967.  Shortly after graduation she married Larry Burton at the home of her grandmother in Teal Bend.  Unto this union, two sons and one daughter were born.
Kay had worked various jobs including admissions coordinator for Oakhaven Manor for several years and OATS bus driver for many years.  She also had assisted the Lakeview Heights Fire Department and store clerk for the quick shop near Lakeview Heights.
In 1995, Kay married Ronnie Smith and they made their home on Feaster Branch Road near Warsaw.
At an early age, Kay was baptized and became a member of the Evening Shade Mennonite Church near Warsaw.  She later moved her membership to Popular Baptist Church near Warsaw.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Surviving are two sons, Gary Burton (Robin) of Lincoln, Missouri and Dustin Burton of Stover, Missouri, one daughter, Tari Barkley (Matt) of Warsaw, 12 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by a brother, Terry Swift (Donna) of Warsaw, a sister, Kathy Davis (Ken) of Stilwell, Kansas, her dear long-time friend, Willetta Findley of Raymore, Missouri, several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Memorial Services will be held in the spring with burial of her cremains in Turkey Creek Chapel Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Place At The Lake (PALS) a shelter for domestic violence in care of the Reser Funeral Home, P.O. Box 910, Warsaw, MO 65355.
