For the thirteenth year, the Warsaw Knights of Columbus held their annual Monster Shrimp Boil Benefit to raise money for local charities.
The Knights prepared 1,100 pounds of shrimp for the enjoyment of 900 plus people.
“This was our biggest event yet,” said Shrimp Boil Chairman Joe Gazarek. “We were much more organized and streamlined or we would have never been able to feed that many people.”
Gazarek and his helpers Mike Shortino, John Cooner, Steve Garcia, David Grimes and Howard Sullentrop worked from 7:30 AM until 8:30 PM preparing for the shrimp boil and cleaning up afterwards.
Gazarek expressed appreciation to all of the members of the Jay Harris Council 8620 of the Knights of Columbus and the Ladies Auxiliary who helped with the event.
“We also appreciated having the Benton County Sheriff’s deputies there to direct traffic,” Gazarek said.
“This is our major fund raiser for the year,” said Gazarek.
Gazarek said the Knights will decide next week how to distribute the money to different, local charities.
“We welcome any charitable organization representative to step forward to ask us for assistance,” Gazarek said.  “We are here to help anyway we can.”
