Ladies Golf League Supports Benton County Cancer Fund

On June 19, 2018, a golf tournament took place at Shawnee Bend Golf Course to raise money for the Benton County (BC) Cancer Fund. The board president of BC Cancer, Flo Dwyer, presented a check to June Walthall worth a total amount of $3,165! These two beautiful ladies were in charge of running the BC Cancer golf tournament held in September up until 4 years ago when Kelly Stackhouse took over that responsibility.
Flo and June will be scaling back their efforts after several years of involvement with the fund, although June’s husband, Larry Walthall, will more than likely continue helping with hole sponsor signs and other miscellaneous tasks.
June was a charter member for Benton County Cancer and helped to organize the fund itself. She helped set an example for others and was a great leader for the future in the fight against cancer.
One of the many things  making the BC Cancer Fund unique is that all donations to the fund, every bit of money that goes toward it, stays in the Benton County community. The fund is organized to assist any family or individual who is battling with cancer, regardless of financial status. For more information on the fund, contact Myra Reser, one of the founders of the BC Cancer Fund, at 660-547-3685, or contact  any BC Cancer Fund board member.
This year the BC Cancer golf tournament will take place on Saturday, September 15, 2018, instead of on a Wednesday as in the past, in hopes to increase involvement from the community. More info will be available shortly.  Feel more than welcome to donate and be a part of such a great event, all in the name of helping those battling cancer.
