Under new business Feb. 11, Lincoln’s Board of Alderpersons authorized issuance of $1,100,000 in bonds for interim finance of a long- planned wastewater improvement project. The funds will purchase about 184 acres just north of the present City lagoon, and was delayed by the recent federal government shutdown.
The meeting opened at 6 PM, with Alderpersons Janice Swearngin, Glen Nelson, Phil Fisher present. Alderwoman Katy Hollis was absent. The meeting was chaired by Mayor John King, and recorded by City Clerk Ruth Eckhoff. First business conducted by the group was to approve the evening’s agenda and minutes of the December meeting, then okay payment of bills presented.
In early session, Brock Heimsoth, owner of a car wash and some mini storage units on the south end of town, complained about people throwing trash in a dumpster he has in that area. The group suggested that he lock that dumpster, but will give further thought to the matter. Then Loretta Zobodi reminded all present that January through March are the months when the City sets its sewer rates, and urged all to conserve water use during that period. There was no old business.
Police Chief Bobby Greene reported his Department will be receiving another police car, Thursday of this week. Public Works Director Dusty Koll reported pump issues at a lift station, warning City officials of impending repair costs. He added that his Department has been spreading a lot of sand and salt. City Clerk Eckhoff said new WEX fuel cards, which can be used to purchase gasoline at virtually any gas station are now available to City employees.
Also under new business, the group approved a liquor license for the new owner of Lincoln’s Bullseye gas station. Alderwoman Swearngin reminded all present that the City will be celebrating its sesquicentennial in July, with fireworks, bands, etc. She said volunteers are needed.
The meeting closed at about 6:30 PM. These meetings are usually held on 2nd Mondays. Visitors are welcome, but please check with City Hall (Ph: 660-547-2718) for updated information.
