The Lincoln Lady Cardinals three peated their Class One District 14 title on Wednesday night over Cole Camp 12-2 and Skyline 6-1 in Cole Camp.
They defeated Skyline 6-1 in the championship game with a storm threatening in the background.
The other drama came in the first inning after Aleah Paxton struck out the first two batters. Freshman Jadyn Foster had homered in their earlier in the night in a 10-0 matchup over Green Ridge. Lincoln Head Coach Chris Sanders came out of the dugout and challenged her bat. It had a different sound and he had been tipped off earlier in the season about the bat. After some ten minutes of discussion, Foster was called out for the alleged illegal bat.
Lincoln would jump on Skyline in the first for three runs on an ribbie by Haley Ebeling and a couple of fielder choices. Ebeling who batted seventh last season has moved up to third. When asked about her improved hitting, she said,” I just spent a lot of time in the batting cage over the summer and I played with the Sun Devils.”
In the second, Alexis Harms, the flying machine, would go from first to third on a bunt by Genesis Smith. Cadyn Paxton, who is apparently seeing the ball very well as of late, would rip a single and it was 4-0.
In the sixth, the one seed, would add two more runs against the second seeded Lady Tigers. Genesis Smith nailed a two run double and it was 6-0 but things would change.
In their sixth, Skyline got back to back singles and scored. Then they loaded the bases with no outs. It was  gut- check time for Aleah and the defense. The next batter would hit a shot to short that Jenna Vandaveer would snag mid-air to save two runs. Then the next heavy hitter would send a bullet to left but Genesis Smith would haul in the nice catch. Paxton would strike out the next hitter and they calmed the storm. She struck out two in the seventh and got a ground ball to Vandaveer, who threw a strike to first and the championship was all theirs. Paxton struck out 11 and Chloe Reese went 3-3
Against Cole Camp, Taylor Gudde  did the unthinkable as she homered on the first pitch from Paxton. Cadyn Paxton would return the favor leading off in their half as she worked a 3-2 count and ripped one over the fence in left. It was 1-1.
Lincoln would score five in the second as Cole Camp misplayed some infields balls. Paxton would allow two hits, two runs and struck out eight over the five inning affair.
