Rose Agnes Purvis

Rose Agnes Purvis (Lillis) was born on November 25, 1926. She passed away of age related causes on April 21, 2018, she was 91 years old. Her parents were Emma(“Polly”) (Hildreth) Lillis and Gordon Lillis. She had an older sister, Mary Louise. They remained close all of Mary’s life until her passing in 2007. She grew up in North Kansas City and graduated high school there in 1944. She married Frank T. Purvis in 1946. They were married for almost 50 years until his passing in 2005. They lived  in Missouri all of their married life. They had two sons, Bruce and Brian. Rose lived with Brian after Frank’s death on the family farm outside of Warsaw. Rose was active in community things and the Methodist Church. She was totally dedicated to her family. She also was a substitute teacher at several public schools. Mother Rose was very well read and intelligent. She particularly liked John Grisham novels and the TV show Jeopardy.
Rose is remembered as a pretty redhead on Irish descent. She had a caring and understanding personality. She almost never made negative comments about anyone. She thought most people were good but that circumstances made them do bad things. She was liked by nearly everyone she knew.
Rose is survived by her son, Brian, of the home outside Warsaw. She has several cousins in the Kansas City area. She has a nephew, Jason Ramey, and Emma Ramey of Monroe, Washington.
The last six years of Rose’s life were plagued by traumatic falls that left her confined to a wheelchair. This was tragic because dynamics were linked to ambulation on the farm. She had been very physically active and athletic. She often walked 5-10 miles to visit until she was over 85. Rose walked in the light of God and is now and forever with Him.
Prayers for mother and Brian are deeply appreciated. Correspondence should be to The Purvis family at 13925 Purvis Rd., Warsaw, MO,65355.
A brief memorial service will be at Shiloh Church on Sunday, May 27 at 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM. Please come and share memories of Rose. Refreshments will be provided. Call Brian at 417-282-6424 with any questions.
