There is help on the way for Warsaw varsity football team as the 5th and 6th graders would win the Truman Lake Area League Championship on Sundy at WHS. The team coached by Kevin Love, Shawn Poyser, JD Wilson, Rick Fajen, and Drew Burdick defeated Lincoln 26-13.
Tydavian Pritchett would score from 70, 35 and 30 yards out to give Warsaw a 20-0 half time lead. John Wilson would intercept a pass as the clock ran out, ending Lincoln’s last drive of the half.
On their first play of the second half, Lincoln’s quarterback Dawson Parrott would take off around the right side for a 50 yard TD and with the extra point it was 20-7. In a quarter with fumbles and flags on both sides, Warsaw held on to the two touchdown lead going to the fourth quarter.
Lincoln would score again in the fourth on a nice pass to Riley Sanders, who out battled Warsaw’s defenders in the corner of the end zone and it was quickly 20-13.
Warsaw would score again and  it was 26-13 and Warsaw fans began to breath a little easier.
Lincoln would have a touchdown called back on a penalty after a pass completion had netted some 50 yards.
Two huge defensive plays would sink the Lincoln Cardinals. Jayce DePriest would block a Lincoln punt at the 5:16 mark and Josh Bunch would bust through the line and sack the quarterback in the closing minutes as Warsaw would get the ball back and run out the clock.
