William G. Gant

 
William G. Gant, age 66, of Edwards, Missouri, passed away Sunday, January 7, 2018 at the Warsaw Health & Rehabilitation Center.  He was born on December 4, 1951 in Warsaw, the son of Harold and Velma Mae (Hartle) Gant.  He grew up in rural Benton County and graduated from Warsaw High School in 1969.  He went on to graduate with his Master’s degree in Education from Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield. 
On March 27, 1981 he was united in marriage to Elizabeth A. Shoemake.  They made their home in rural Benton County.  Bill began his career in education in the Hermitage School District for a short time.  In 1977 he began his career with the Warsaw School District.  He served as the Industrial Arts teacher until 1999 and then as Programs Director until 2011.  He then went on to serve Benton County as the Emergency Management Director until 2016.
Bill was a past board member of the Kaysinger Bluff Pioneer Heritage Association and was involved with Heritage Days, Kaysinger Christmas and Living History Days.  He was a member of the Warsaw Bible Church.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a 4-H Leader when his children were young.  He was known by many as Mr. Gant and thoroughly enjoyed his career and the time he spent with his students.  Nothing brought him more enjoyment than the time spent with his family.    He lived his life on the principle of God first and family second. He lived a life of service to God, his family and the community.
He is survived by his wife Beth Gant, of the home, six children; Jarred Gant, and his wife Bobbi, of Edwards, Missouri, Tyler Gant, and his wife Emily, of Ozark, Missouri, Laura Gant Dicks, and her husband David, of Waco, Texas, Jacob Gant, of Edwards, Emily Gant, of Waco, Texas and Rebecca Gant, and her fiancé Kyle, of Edwards, eight grandchildren; Taylor, Gracie, Levi, Wesley, Calvin, Samuel, Daniel, Annie and another grandchild on the way.
A Celebration of Life for William G. “Bill” Gant will be held at 11:00 A.M. January 13, 2018 at the Cedar Grove Baptist Church in Warsaw, with Pastor Jason McCray, officiating.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Sagrada Scholarship Bible Camp c/o the Reser Funeral Home 101 W. Main Street Warsaw, Missouri 65355.
