Calhoun Community Church
Welcome to the Good News from the Calhoun Community Church. Our church family gathers at 9:30 a.m. for pre-church food and fellowship. We use this special time for visiting with one another and welcoming guests as they arrive for worship. We sign cards of encouragement for our card ministry. Tucker McNeely rang the church bell to call our church families to worship.
We extend our sympathy and Christian Love to the family and friends of Shirley Bilbruck, who passed into the arms of Jesus. We continue to pray for our military men and women and their families, as well as others in service jobs that we depend upon daily. Everyone in our once great country should be praying for a return to normalcy. We pray for guidance as we continue to grow, here on the southeast corner of the Calhoun square.
Joys to celebrate: We were blessed with another beautiful, sun shiny morning, on this Saint Patrick’s Day. Patty Dump blessed us with her presence today. She thanked the church members for the prayers and cards, while she is recuperating from her back surgery. We were pleased to have Jerry Reed be the song leader, in Tom’s absence. Praying Tom and Barbara Colwell have a safe and joyful time in Texas. Thank you goes out to Carol Lane, who brought cookies and Sue Lesmeister, who brought peanut brittle, which were thoroughly enjoyed. Birthday wishes, as well as many more to Linda Hawkins and Savannah McNeely, who had birthdays this last week. Special Music by: Ms Verna, “If That Isn’t Love”. As always, she did an awesome job.
We are an impromptu and diverse group here at Calhoun Community Church! We try very hard to encourage each other, have a little fun and glorify the Lord at the same time. There were 24 present today.
An Old Irish Blessing:
May the road rise to meet you:
May the wind be always at your back,
The sun shine warm upon your face,
The rain fall soft upon your fields,
And until we meet again
May God hold you in the hollow of his hand.

Drakes Chapel UMC
Can we all agree and believe that all God’s creatures are special? Well, we sure love our furry four-legged friends at Drake’s. This Sunday we had two of our furry canines with us for worship. Isso and Susie were the perfect guests. They received lots of love and perhaps a treat or two. And we would be remiss to not to mention our special four-legged friend from a near by neighbor that greets us almost every Sunday morning with a wagging tail. Where would this world be had God not created man’s best friend.
Pastor Margie’s message spoke of relationships. Our relationships with our spouse, our friends, co-workers and most important our relationship with God. Our Lord and Savior so wants to be in a relationship with us. But it takes commitment and a willingness to be ever present with one another. That is what God wants from us. To seek Him in everything we do.
Our Bible study this week will focus on Paul and his relationship with Jesus. This study from Tom Berlin has brought to light the characters surrounding Jesus those last 3 days.
Our journey to Holy Week begins with a brunch following worship on Palm Sunday. This is a time we share with our church family and enjoy fellowship and great food. All are welcome.
We all love those chocolate bunnies and Easter eggs that kids seek to find during this time, but make way Mr. Bunny …….Jesus Christ has Risen is the message we hope our kids will remember after the chocolate is gone.
We look forward to sharing our worship experience with you. Whether in person or on Facebook live. We begin at 9:00 each Sunday. Drake’s Chapel is located 5 miles east of Clinton off 52 hwy. We would love to show you how easy it is to find a relationship with us and Jesus Christ.

First Baptist
On Sunday, Pastor Pat Findley referred to Matthew 26 in his message titled, “The Betrayer Was There”. Judas is widely known as the ultimate betrayer. Although we don’t really know how Judas came to follow Jesus, he is listed as a disciple in the Bible. Judas is often listed last among the disciples, but witnessed all Christ did in the three and a half years leading up to the cross. Expecting Jesus to lead the collapse of Rome, Judas became frustrated as Christ helped the helpless. This story reminds us that it doesn’t matter how Christian we look on the outside if we are spiritually dead on the inside. Judas had mastered hypocrisy, which refers to the changing of masks we wear in different scenarios. Jesus knew that Judas’ soul was not right before God and that he would betray Him. However, He calls us to love others, even our enemies. Jesus came to make a way. His death on the cross accomplished all we need for salvation. Grace is greater than your sin if you know and trust Him. Do you know Jesus?

This week was the fifth step on our Lenton journey, sacrifice. The Lord calls us to commit our lives to him. He requires us to be willing to make the ultimate commitment of our whole lives. Place your trust in Him. He will give you the confidence and courage to face the future with hope. “Now the Green Blade Rises” was the anthem this week. Rev. Nancy Gillard’s message titled Traveling Light was taken from John 11:32 – 44.
The sewing of hygiene products for young ladies in Africa project continues under the guidance of the dedicated Presbyterian Women’s group. If you want to help, you will find the needed materials in the foyer. PW members welcome questions about this mission effort. The Bible teaches those who trust in God and have faith in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, it is entirely because of God’s work, not their own. For those who don’t have faith in God or his son, Jesus Christ, it is entirely their own doing, not God’s doing.
Eph. 2: 1-3.
How is a person born again? Faith in Jesus is a gift of God, not our own decision or works. Faith comes through the work of the Holy Spirit through the preaching of God’s Word and the sacraments of Holy Baptism and The Lord’s Supper. Where are these “means of grace” most readily available to people? The Christian Church.
Eph. 2: 4-7.
Through the preaching of the Word and the sacraments, God the Holy Spirit creates and sustains faith in all who believe. Are you concerned about your faith and salvation? Good! That is the Holy Spirit working in your life, calling you to Him. Those who have no faith in God don’t concern themselves about such things.
Eph. 2: 8-10.
Come to church this Sunday. Your faith will be renewed and strengthened through the Gospel message and fellowship with other believers. Praise God!
Divine Service 1 pm. Sunday School 11:45 pm. Phone 660.885.4728.

Urich Baptist
It was a cold St. Patrick’s Sunday as we came together to worship the Lord.
Clint Keeney rang the church bell. Mrs. Julia Klinefelter led in the congregational singing with Mrs. Gail Perrymann playing piano. We rejoiced with Daryl and Millie Sloan on their 64th wedding anniversary. Lonny Bramell and Clint Keeney collected the offering.
The scripture passage from interim Pastor Steve Sowell’s sermon was from John 11: 1-44. In this passage Jesus reminds us that His will and purpose is for each of us all in His time, and in His own way. Jesus intentionally waited to go to Lazarus to show others who He was. After 4 days in the tomb, Jesus spoke and raised Lazarus from death. With our faith in Jesus, He speaks to our hearts, gives us hope, and loves us unconditionally giving us the gift of eternal life. Have a blessed week.

God speaks to us and we know that he is with us. He tells us, “I Am The One, your Savior”.
It is simple, as we gather every Sunday morning, we come to see Jesus. We want to feel his presence and know that he is near. During our Lenten journey, he reveals himself to us and to the world. He never leaves us.
Just the day before Palms Sunday, the story of Lazarus being healed by Jesus began spreading throughout the land. It was powerful proof that the presence of God was there. People began to be excited at this power of healing and felt the sense of his calmness. Jesus came to the people and told them what was to happen, that he would be betrayed, crucified, buried, but would rise again. There was no more denying as people listened as he told of God’s presence in the world.
As we prepare for Holy week, we are reminded that not only did Christ die for our sins, but he was raised from the grave and defeated death. His death and resurrection is the heart of the gospel. By his wounds we are healed and our salvation was won.
