Cole Camp Bluebirds Easy Prey For Hungry Blackhawks

Friday the 13th, superstitious or not, wasn't a particularly good day for the Cole Camp Bluebirds football team. They had four of their better defensive players injured, their best offensive player was out and they were up against a strong wind that diluted their passing game. On top of all that, they were facing an undefeated Adrian Blackhawks team with one of the best running attacks in Missouri Class 2 football.

None of that takes away the total sting of the 55-6 drubbing by the now 8-0 Blackhawks, who will be challenged this week by  a good 7-1 Tipton club.

At the 11:32 mark in the first, running back Hunter Bailey swung around untouched on the left side for a 30 yard TD. Colton Miller kicked the PAT and that was all they really needed as it was 7-0 but the onslaught was on. It was 28-0 after one and 48-0 at the half.

After both teams subbed in their JV squads, Cole Camp junior varsity quarterback  Teagan Sharp scored on a 34 yard run around the left side in the fourth. The PAT failed. Taylor Johnson, Adrian's JV signal caller rambled 40 yards for a Blackhawks score also in the fourth.

When asked about his mindset entering the game and if anything surprised him, Cole Camp coach Kevin Shearer commented, "I always have the mindset to do what is needed to win. Adrian is very physical with or without the ball."

As far as positives and future needs, he went on to say, "We pitched and caught the ball well and we protected our QB. We need to get healthy."

The Bluebirds will host Midway this Friday in their final regular season game.

They are 2-6 on the season.
