Many of us were glued to the tube over the little submarine that imploded on its way to the Titanic. It broke into three pieces. I wonder if they even knew what was happening? What an awful way to perish. Many of the newscasts talked about the submarine Thresher that went down in 1963. And that brought to mind the hymn, “Almighty Father, strong to save, Whose arm hath bound the restless wave…oh hear us when we cry to Thee, for those in peril on the sea.” Speaking of hymns, a favorite of mine is “All Is Well With My Soul.” I grew up hearing it at Saint Ann’s Parish and once in a Mass celebrated by a distant cousin, Father Joe Hughes. He was from Liberty and his father was a Baptist Minister there. When Joe was in the seminary, however, he jumped over the fence and became a Catholic and ended up at St. Elizabeth’s. When I was a kid we went to mass in K.C. one Sunday, hoping Joe would be the priest in charge. He was and when I went to communion and Joe handed me the host, he smiled and said, “Body of Christ, cuz.” Not long after that, Joe moved to Savannah where he died in his sleep. Many Hughes family members still live in Liberty. This branch originally came from Virginia. Guess it would be right to say that hundreds or more early Missouri settlers came from Virginia by way of Kentucky.

A lot of folks are upset about Hunter Biden’s “Plea Deal” for tax evasion and illegal gun possession. Not sure why they’re upset. Everyone knew this was going to be the outcome, it’s not a surprise. What does surprise me is that Hunter is also getting his child support payments reduced at the same time, saying he “Has no income.” UNBELIEVABLE! Something is missing here. It’s clear the Biden’s are above the law. Don’t believe me? Try writing off tens of thousands of dollars in hooker bills on your taxes. Try banking millions as an unregistered foreign agent or illegally obtaining a firearm while on crack and tossing it in a dumpster by a school. See how that works for you. Our new two-tier justice system should scare everyone, including the indoctrinated snowflakes. Isn’t it crazy how some people happily go along with their own demise? In the meantime, a 40 year old Harlingen, Texas resident has been ordered to Federal Prison for lying on a firearm application at Wal-Mart.
