It was the Abby and Gabbie show on Tuesday night in Lincoln as the Lincoln Lady Cardinals hosted the Cole Camp Lady Bluebirds. Lincoln  head coach Gabbie Mallard faced her former coach Abby Massingill.
Cole Camp won in three sets 25-14, 25-17 and 25-14 but the contests were closer than the scores indicated as Lincoln made a comeback in the last two sets. In the second set, there was a 20 touch volley between the two teams won by Cole Camp at 12-9.
Coach Mallard was happy despite the loss.
"We played great. We came back and never quit. This is what you want when building a program," the Lady Cards coach said.
Coach Massingill, on the other hand, wasn't as pleased.
"We didn't play well," she said. "The tournament over the weekend seemed to take its toll on us."
When asked about the rivalry, Coach Mallard said, "It is always nice to play against my former team. We will get them next year."
Stats against Lincoln were: Emily Burdick; 9 kills, 5 digs; Mandy Goosen 10 kills; Gracie Thompson 11 digs; and Olivia Pilant 29 assists.
On Thursday, Cole Camp dominated Otterville 25-9, 25-9 and 25-7.
Against Otterville it was: Emily Burdick 9 kills, 8 digs, 3 blocks; Mandy Goosen 9 kills, 3 blocks; Marilyn Hesse 7 kills; and Olivia Pilant 27 assists.
Cole Camp will host the Kaysinger Conference tournament beginning this Thursday.
