Local motel, River’s End located at 31625 Highway 83, has recently undergone an extensive remodel thanks to new owner Jason Jones.  Jones who attended Warsaw High School in 1994-95 dropped out of high school, moved to Kansas City and began a career in sales.
“I was a troubled teenager and I didn’t finish high school, however, I began working and started buying real estate to flip,” said Jones.
Since then, Jones has bought numerous properties in Missouri and Kansas, as well as an all-inclusive resort in Belize.  Jones runs seven different companies in the hotel/motel/rental business as well as a rental boat in Osage Beach.
“When River’s End was available, I decided this would be a way to give back to the community that made an impression on me so many years ago,” said Jones.
Jones completely remodeled River’s End by investing over $400,000 to upgrade and bring back the motel to the family-oriented establishment it had been.
“River’s End was run down and was renting to non-vacationers with a great deal of drug activity going on,” said Jones.  “We intend for this to be a place for out-of-town fishermen and families looking for a place to vacation.”
Since reopening in March, River’s End has been booked every weekend.  Jones hired Sarah Plaster as the manager.  Sarah’s husband, Jeff, is the full-time maintenance man.
“We have been very busy since spoonbill season started,” said Jones.
Jones lives in Piper, Kansas, near the airport with his four children and girlfriend, Trisha.  They also have a house on C Highway near Warsaw where they come on weekends.
The newly remodeled River’s End features a game room as well as a hot breakfast on the weekends and continental breakfast Monday through Friday.
“River’s End will have a new sign going up soon so everyone will know we are open for business,” said Jones.
Plans for the future include an RV Park near River’s End as well.
