Vernon Lee Gemes

Vernon Lee Gemes, age 90, of Edwards, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, January 28, 2023 peacefully at his home.  He was born on January 1, 1933 in Edwards, Missouri the son of Albert Aai Gemes and Emma (Paterson) Gemes.  Vernon graduated from Warsaw High School class of 1949.  He was united in marriage to the love of his life Barbara Baugh on November 9, 1952.  They made their home in Benton County and unto this union four children were born. 
Vernon was a devoted husband, father and grandfather.  He loved his farm and cattle.  He spent many hours refurbishing farm equipment and participating at Old Time Harvest Days.  He loved to fish and spend time with his faithful dog “Suzie”.  Vernon was a member of Cross Timbers Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.  He was also a member of the American Legion Post 623 in Cross Timbers and the VFW Post. 
Vernon is preceded in death by his parents Albert and Emma Gemes, two brothers; Karl Gemes, J.C. Gemes, two sisters; Nadine Brown and Geraldine Wise.
He is survived by his loving wife of the home Barbara Gemes, four children; Lyndell (Doris) Gemes of Edwards, Missouri, Larry Gemes of Warsaw, Missouri, Stanley Gemes of Cole Camp, Missouri, Connie (Jacque) Duryea of Cole Camp, Missouri, ten grandchildren; Brian (Cassie) Gemes, Marlena (Danny) Casto, Denyse (Donavan) Hite, Duston Hite, Melynda (William) Chaffen, Brent (Rosa) Gemes, Deanna (Kyle) Hays, Dustin Gemes, Brooke (Brandon Siercks) Daleske , Shawn (Liz) Duryea, twenty-six great grandchildren Chloe, Brendan, Vivian, Olivia, Johnathan, Dionyus, Vincent, Garrett Casidia, Elizabeth, Kaylee, Mary, Dallas, Hunter, Landon, Chase, Audra, Emma, Parker, Logan, Aurora, Carter, Kennedi, Ella, Grace, Asa, three great-great grandchildren; Ashton, Joseph and Jack, numerous relatives and friends. 
Funeral Services for Vernon Lee Gemes will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, February 2, 2023 at the Reser Funeral Home in Warsaw.  Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 prior to the service.  Interment will immediately follow at the Bethel Campground Cemetery in Edwards, Missouri.  Memorial contributions can be made to Cross Timbers Southern Baptist Church c/o Reser Funeral Home.
