Wiggins And Johnson Take Top Spots At LHS

Posted
Lincoln High School held their graduation on the LHS football field on May 12.  Despite intermittent showers, the thirty-six 2023 seniors were able to finish their high school career with friends and family watching.
One of the speakers at the event was Lacey Wiggins, valedictorian of the Class of ’23.  Wiggins, the daughter of Scott Wiggins, Breana Wiggins and the late Cassandra Pitts, has attended the Lincoln School System since fourth grade.
During her high school career, Wiggins was involved in Student Council, National Honor Society, Cheerleading, Softball and the Drama Department.  One of the highlights of her high school career was being involved in the plays “Annie” and “Beauty and the Beast”.
Next year, Wiggins plans to attend UMKC to study psychology and then plans to attend medical school.
Wiggins commented that school goes by so very fast and she encourages underclassmen to cherish the small moments.
Wiggins said she would miss the small town feel of Lincoln.  “Everyone cares about everyone at LHS and the teachers know all the students personally,” said Wiggins.
She also commented that her English Composition class was a favorite of hers where she made many great memories.
The salutatorian of the LHS Class of 2023 was Ross Johnson.  Johnson the son of Mike and Michelle Johnson, was involved in football, basketball and National Honor Society.
Johnson’s favorite memory of this past school year was beating Cole Camp in football twice.
“I attended Cole Camp in elementary school so I knew all those guys and it was fun to beat them back-to-back,” said Johnson.
Johnson said he would miss seeing his friends every day as he plans to attend State Fair Community College in Sedalia next year.
