Wildcats Score Late, Beat Butler

Posted
Five runs in the sixth inning helped to lead Warsaw past the Butler Bears on the road on Monday night in a pivotal contest with conference title implications.
The Wildcats (12-8, 6-1) scored 1 in the first on a walk to Jayce Depriest that forced in Dakota Steinhoff for the first tally of the night.
Butler tied the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the fourth.
Warsaw notched 2 more runs in the fifth on runs scored by Drake Murrell and Depriest to reclaim the lead at 3-1.  The Bears tacked on one more in their half and the score was 3-2.
But the sixth inning put things away for the Wildcats.  Tayten Boyer led off with a walk and scored later on a free pass issued to James Kellner.  Nick Bagley singled in the next at-bat to score Gage Whitaker and Depriest and he was followed two batters later by Dakota Steinhoff with a single that scored Kellner. Nick Bagley capped the scoring in the inning by swiping home on a passed ball.
Butler managed 1 in the bottom of the sixth, but Warsaw tacked on 1 more of their own in the top of the seventh on a balk that scored Depriest.
The Wildcats defense took it from there as they went on to take the road victory, 9-3.
Kellner and Nick Bagley both had 2 hits apiece for Warsaw.
Josh Bunch went 6.0 innings for the win before giving way to Kendall Bagley in the seventh for the save.
