Wrestling Takes Over Town For Warsaw Invitational And Youth Tournaments

It was a grappler's paradise over the weekend when Warsaw welcomed teams and wrestlers from across the state to the Warsaw High School Invitational Tournament on Saturday and the Warsaw Youth Wrestling Tournament on Sunday.
Nine teams competed in the invitational event on Saturday with Warsaw bringing in their highest team finish for the year in second.
Team results were: Versailles (220.5),  Warsaw (172.0), Whitfield (171.0), Smith-Cotton (166.0), Eldorado Springs (146.0), Sherwood (100.5), Lincoln College Prep (49.5), Windsor (39.0) and Stover 38.0).
The Wildcats placed seven wrestlers on the podium, including three champions, on Saturday.  
Warsaw coach Justin Wisdom was pleased with his team's performance, especially with the district and state tournaments looming in just under a month.
"The team has put together two of their best weeks her in early Janaury," Wisdom said. "We're just focused on being consistent and making a strong push towards the district tournament."

In addition to the host team, many clubs were represented at Sunday's youth wrestling tournament, inlcuding: Windsor, Sedalia, Lebanon, Clinton, Butler, Versailles, Harrisonville, Eldon, Central Missouri, Osage, Eierman Elite and Moberly.
"We had close to 300 wrestlers battling it out on the mats," Wisdom said.  "Warsaw had 54 kids and they did great!  It was realy cool seeing all those young Wildcats out on the mats!"
