Warsaw To Hold April Election Of Aldermen

Under new business, Monday eve, Warsaw Aldermen approved an ordinance providing for an April election of the City’s Aldermen, which will see voting for new or returning Aldermen for Wards 1,2,3.
The meeting opened at 6 PM, with Aldermen Eric Flores, Lou Breshears, Adam Howe, Terry Marshall Sr., Eric Masoner present. Alderman Rob Coskey was absent. Mayor Eddie Simons presided; City Clerk Jessica Kendall recorded. First business conducted was to approve the evening agenda, minutes of the group’s Oct. 26 meeting, and payment of bills presented.

LaBonte Steps Down At Chamber, Vorce Returns

The Warsaw Chamber of Commerce Executive Director, Nancy LaBonte, and Assistant Director, Caitlin Osborn, will resign their positions with the Chamber effective November 30. Both are leaving to pursue other careers. Former Executive Director, Mac Vorce has been asked to step back into that position where he was successful in getting small businesses to work together to provide popular events, and to pool their advertising money to get more ads at less cost.

Covid Cases Rise, Health Dept. Readies For Vaccine

As COVID-19 numbers continue to rise in Benton County, officials are taking steps to insure the safety of residents.
According to Benton County Health Department Director Linda Viebrock, there have been 774 Benton Countians who have tested positive for COVID-19.  Of those there are 129 active cases while 633 patients have been released.  Ten patients were hospitalized recently and the COVID-19 death toll for Benton County is up to 10.

Benton County’s E911 Director, Jessica Mayfield, assumed her new role on October 19, 2020, and began right away putting into action her plans to bring the center up to full staff, modernize equipment and strengthen community relations. Mayfield’s background, training and experience reflect her qualifications for the new position.

 Long time Benton County resident JoAnn Lane has taken on a new role as the Benton County Economic Development Director.  Presently, she is working from her home but she is out and about in the county everyday working to improve existing businesses and draw new businesses to the Benton County area.
It is the goal of Benton County Economic Development to create capital investment in the county, to assist local businesses in their continued growth and expansion and to create more opportunities to prosper for Benton County residents.

Benton Blue Community Christmas Brings Cheer For Law Enforcement

Benton County residents Donna Goodwin and Millie Prichard found out how little law enforcement officers earn while risking their lives for us when they saw a help-wanted ad for a police officer starting at $14 an hour. They decided that the Benton Blue Community Christmas fundraiser this year would be used to provide support and Christmas to all 30 Benton County law enforcement officers. They include all Benton County Deputies, and Police Officers from Warsaw, Lincoln and Cole Camp.
