Arlene J. Brown, age 93, of rural Cross Timbers, Missouri, passed away Sunday, December 14, 2025, at the Pine Lodge Residential Care Center in Buffalo, Missouri.
She was born September 1, 1932, in Saranac, Michigan, the daughter of Arley and Velma (Merritt) Travis. Arlene proudly served her country in the United States Air Force from March 2, 1953, until her honorable discharge on March 1, 1956. On August 3, 1956, she was united in marriage to Olen “Buster” Brown. Following Buster’s completion of his Air Force service, the couple returned to Kansas City where they started raising their family before moving to the family farm near Cross Timbers in 1967.
Arlene was a gifted quilter and made hundreds of quilts through the years, many of which were shared with family and friends. She also enjoyed working on jigsaw puzzles and loved traveling across the country whenever the opportunity arose.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arley and Velma Travis; her husband, Olen “Buster” Brown; a son, Ronald Brown; a daughter, Belinda Miller; four brothers; and two sisters.
Arlene is survived by two children: Debbie Blazek and her husband Randy of Rockdale, Texas, and Daniel Brown and his wife Becky of Edwards, Missouri. She is also survived by nine grandchildren: Brent Breshears and his wife Kelly of Fair Grove, Missouri, Chris Breshears of Fair Grove, Missouri, Kyle Brown and his wife Sarah of Cross Timbers, Missouri, Melissa Bolin and her husband Scotty of Buffalo, Missouri, Kurtis Brown and his wife Caitlin of Edwards, Missouri, Justine Owsley and her husband Ben of Cross Timbers, Missouri, Nick Brown of Republic, Missouri, Michael Brase and his wife Candice of Longmont, Colorado, and Jenny Leonard and her husband Drew of Austin, Texas. Additional survivors include fourteen great-grandchildren; a special niece and caregiver, Aimee Barley and her husband Steve of Springfield, Missouri; a sister, Vicky Dailey of Hubbardston, Michigan; a brother, Bob Travis and his wife Jan of Greenville, Michigan; along with numerous other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, December 19, 2025, at Reser Funeral Home, 101 W. Main Street, Warsaw, Missouri. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Interment will follow at the Cross Timbers Cemetery with full military honors.
