Under a beautiful clear blue sky, Clinton Christian Academy hosted its first annual 5k Run/Walk fundraiser on Saturday, August 10, marking a significant milestone in the school’s commitment to supporting its volleyball program. The event attracted a diverse number of participants, all united by a common goal: to support the CCA volleyball team.
The 5K Run was organized by Head Volleyball Coach Jessica Cotten, along with the help of the Assistant Coaches, Gwen Fisher & Sarah Jones, as well as the CCA Volleyball players. The event was a resounding success, not only in terms of fundraising but also in community support. With around 34 runners participating and additional attendees supporting from the sidelines, the energy was palpable throughout the race.
Runners of all ages took to the starting line at 7 a.m., and the race began with a burst of enthusiasm. The course, which wound its way down Division Road, was designed to be both challenging and enjoyable. Participants ranged from seasoned runners to families out for a fun day, showcasing the event’s inclusive spirit.
Head Coach Jessica Cotten stated, “This event turned out to be a great time for everyone involved! God answered our prayers and provided us with the perfect weather and temperature! It is such a blessing to bring such amazing people together to a wonderful event where we can honor God and praise Him for all He has done for us.”
As the runners crossed the finish line, the event closed with a sense of accomplishment and camaraderie. Winners of the 5k Run/Walk were as follows: Male Winners: 1st, James Fischer; 2nd, Colten Manning; and 3rd, Matthew Wombles. Female Winners: 1st, Ashlee Henny; 2nd, Gwen Fischer; and 3rd, Micah Nadler. Organizers are already looking forward to next year’s run, eager to build on this year’s success and further strengthen the ties between CCA and the Clinton community.
CCA wishes to thank all who helped make the event such a great success. Approximately $1200 was raised through this event to support the CCA VB program! Without all of our parents, VB players, coaches, and volunteers this event would not have been possible.
