Calhoun Community Church
Greetings from Calhoun Community Church where everyone is somebody and Jesus Christ is Lord. We are located on the southeast corner of the Calhoun square. We are a MultiDenominational congregation and gather for pre-church food and fellowship at 9:30 a.m. This is a special time for visiting, signing cards of encouragement for our card ministry, and welcoming guests for worship. Pastor Jerry Reed rang the church bell at 9:45 a.m. to call our church families to worship at 10:00.
We extend our Sympathy and Christian love to the family and Friends of Teresa Stockwell and Jim Johnson who were called to their heavenly home this week. Others on our prayer list include Jan Reed, Janice Hill, Marlene Hall, Debbie Joy, Adam Wall, Carrie and Nathanal Hix and family, Patty Dump’s Mother Mary, Gerald Barrow, Taylie Stauber, Grayson Lowe, Sondra Short, Amber, Patrick, and Brecklynn Dittmer. Tragedy is only a moment away as this community realized last week with a house fire, one day and a tragic fire truck accident the next; without injury in either case. We are ever Thankful for a merciful Father. We continue to pray for our military men and women and their families, as well as others in service jobs that we depend upon daily.
Joys to celebrate: Mother nature is a fickle lady, 72 Friday and snow this morning, Surprise,!! We were excited to being able to gather today as a church family to glorify our Lord. We sang Happy Birthday to Beverly Siercks and are pleased to wish her many more. Ms. Carol brought chocolate krinkle cookies for our fellowship time, we extend our Thanks. Steve Siercks lit the altar candles . Gary Conner and Dalton Conner served as ushers collecting the offering. Verna Walters sang ‘’If Jesus Comes Tomorrow,” and Shelby Bicknell sang ‘’He’s Waiting at the Gate for Me,” a song of his own composure for special music as a tribute to the memory of his brother Brian, with Jeremy Reed accompanied him on the drums. Carol Lane and Shelby Thanked the church family for prayers of concern in the passing of son and brother Brian Bicknell. Patty Dump visited her mother in Illinois last week and thanked the church family for travel mercy prayers. Today was our monthly Birthday Dinner, delicious food, and great fellowship, praise God it doesen’t get any better, Amen. Nathinal Hix was our guest this morning. The monthly Harvesters Food Distribution was Friday with the usual large crowd. It was a beautiful day for an extremely worthwhile event sponsored by Mt. Moriah Church, Rev. Joe & Marlene Hall Pastors. We are pleased and blessed to be a part of this community program.
We are a country church where country folk gather to glorify the Lord and socialize one with another. We are a diverse group and invite you to be our guest any Sunday for worship, we promise you will receive a blessing for your effort and we will be blessed also. First Baptist
On Sunday, Pastor Pat Findley delivered a powerful message in the ‘Paradise Lost’ series titled “Five Steps to Wreck Your Life”. In this exploration of Genesis 3, Pastor Pat delves into the timeless struggle between God’s plan for our lives and the temptations that lead us astray. The fall of Adam and Eve serves as a powerful metaphor for our own battles with sin and doubt. Members and guests were challenged to examine how they might be ‘editing’ God’s word to suit their own desires, doubting His goodness, or giving in to temptation. This message reminds us that, while Satan seeks to destroy, God pursues us with relentless love. It’s a call to recognize our tendency to pass blame and hide from God, and instead to embrace His grace and forgiveness. Through this lens, we’re invited to see our struggles, not as defeats, but as opportunities to draw closer to a God who clothes us in His righteousness, just as He clothed Adam and Eve after their fall. This message resonates deeply with our daily choices and encourages us to choose the abundant life Christ offers over the destructive path of sin. Jesus came because God knows we stray and struggle. He invites us to draw near to Him and to know the full joy of surrender. Simply ask Him to be the Lord of your life! Christ pursues you because He loves you!

Like a loving mother and a caring father, God desires the best for us, good health and wholeness, peace and justice. We, however, often seek our own way, wandering toward the gods of success, popularity, wealth, and comfort. We look for immediate satisfaction, a quick fix, temporary relief. God always welcomes us home. With Him we will find rest for our weariness and peace deeper than our worry. His arms are as wide as a father’s care and as warm as a mother’s love.
Bringing the message this week was Rev. Robert Cromwell. Using scripture Luke 15: 1–2, 11–32 he titled his message “My Two Sons”. Pat Brock on piano played the timeless hymn “How Great Thou Art”.
Jello and pudding mixes of any flavor or size are being collected for the Samaritan Center food pantry. Donations are appreciated and may be left on the foyer shelves.
The Presbyterian Women will have a work day on Tuesday, March 18 at 1:30 pm in Fellowship Hall to begin work on the personal hygiene items for Little Girls in Africa. This is a yearly project for the ladies. Their dedication helps make it possible for young girls to attend school. All help is appreciated.
Interested in Tai Chi? Come join the classes here on Mondays and Wednesday at 10:00 am in our Fellowship Hall. Tai Chi helps strengthen your core and improve your balance.

St. Paul’s Episcopal Church
2 miles past Walmart on Hwy 7
Sunday, March 16, the Rt. Rev. Diane M. Jardine Bruce, Bishop Provisional of the Diocese of West Missouri, visited St. Paul’s Episcopal Church for her Annual Visitation and Confirmation. The service was followed with a reception for the confirmand, a young woman who has grown to adulthood at St. Paul’s and made her adult commitment to follow Jesus.
At 3:00 PM, the Central Deanery of the Diocese of West Missouri gathered at St. Paul’s for a retirement celebration for Bishop Diane. In May, the Diocese of West Missouri will consecrate its IX Bishop at Grace and Holy Trinity Cathedral in Kansas City. This day, however, was to honor and thank Bishop Diane for her time of service and love in our diocese as we transitioned from our VIII to IX elected bishop. Receptions were also held the previous two days in the Northwest-Metro Deanery and the Southern Deanery.
The celebration began with a Eucharist of song and praise, followed by a reception with much good food and conversation. She truly felt the love we all have for her as she said her farewells to us. Following the installation of the new bishop, Bishop Diane will return to her home in California. In her three years here, triplet grandsons were born into the family. She is looking forward to spending more time with them and writing the four books she has planned. She will continue to be active in The Episcopal Church as she has been elected at the National General Convention of The Episcopal Church to serve six years on the Executive Council. She will certainly continue her good work for the Church. The Diocese has sent her off with love and best wishes for her “retirement” with these three back-to-back receptions!

“Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not will be condemned.” Mark 16:16.
To a lot of people these days, regular church attendance is unnecessary. In fact, church attendance may even be harmful, since it can cause people to believe their church membership and regular church attendance is what saves them, rather than a personal relationship with God’s son, Jesus Christ.
These same people argue that even belief in God is meaningless and maybe even dangerous.. “Even Satan believes in God,” they like to say. Stay at home on Sunday mornings. Sleep in. Worship God on the golf course, or at the shopping mall. Regular church attendance may cause you to go to Hell with Satan! It sounds crazy, but you can’t make this stuff up! The memes are all over Facebook.
What these people don’t understand is there is NO DISTINCTION between people who believe in God, and those who have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. In fact, they are one and the same. Why? Because God is Jesus. Jesus is God. If you believe and have faith in the true God of Christianity, you also believe in Jesus, and have a personal relationship with God the Father, God, the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
The bottom line? It’s never wrong to go to church. Believers should attend church regularly. God the Holy Spirit is waiting there for you, to work faith and salvation in everyone who believes. Praise God!

The cool air and snow didn’t keep the faithful from worship service. Clint Keeney rang the church bell. Mrs. Julia Klinefelter led in the congregational singing with Mrs. Dixie Collins playing piano and Mrs. Rebecca Sowell playing violin. Randy Vogt and Clint Keeney collected the offering.
The scripture passage from Pastor Joshua Sowell’s sermon was from Galatians 1: 1-10. In this passage Paul is writing to the churches of Galatia imploring them that the power we have comes from Christ. Paul reminded them that through God’s love, mercy, and grace that He sent His Son Jesus Christ to earth to die so we could be rescued from sinfulness and redeemed. Our salvation brings us peace which passes all understanding. By reading scripture in the Bible, His words are revealed to us so we will remain faithful and true to Christ who gives us eternal life. Have a blessed week.
