Paul wrote the following to Timothy: “. . . from infancy you have known the holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus.” “Able” in this verse is a translation of the Greek word “dunamis,” a word which is a bit stronger than “able.” It is the word often used for power, suggesting an inherent power in Scripture draws us to faith in Jesus as we are exposed to the Gospel. Our word “dynamite” derives from this Greek word. Thus, the Scriptures “have the power to make us wise unto salvation.”
A wise Christian knows that salvation is in Jesus Christ, a truth that has powerfully exploded in their soul through exposure to the Scriptures. We have a glorious treasure in the Holy Bible, yet many give it little time or thought. Faith in Christ makes us Christians. Knowing Scripture makes us wise Christians, helping us understand the wonderful treasure we possess in the word “salvation.”
If I may make a personal reference, in my case, I knew about Jesus in the Bible for years before I was converted. I knew what the Scriptures said about Him.  I rejected most of what they said. When a neighbor’s witness opened my eyes to the gospel's truth, the Jesus of Scripture suddenly and indelibly became alive in my soul. My first impulse from that encounter with the living Christ was a desire to read the New Testament.  I read it for the first time through the lens of faith, and the Scriptures began their work of making me wise unto salvation. I might add that the job is not yet finished! I still need lots of exposure to the sacred writings.
But how can words on a page have such wondrous power? According to its testimony and the testimony of millions of believers, the Bible is a unique book. Hebrews tells us that the Word of God is living and active. As we handle the Word of God with faith, the God revealed on the pages of Scripture becomes real in our hearts.  Paul tells us that the word of God is the sword of the Holy Spirit (Eph. 6:17). The Holy Spirit operates in, with, and through the written word.
Our church is committed to the Bible, the whole Bible, and nothing but the Bible because we want our members to become wise unto salvation.

Hello everyone I pray your week was blessed.  Our Sunday school is holding steady.  Worship is also holding steady.  Many new faces in the congregation.  Tina Kliaber and daughter attended the Women’s Retreat in Sedalia last weekend.  School will be starting in a couple of weeks.  Pray for the teachers and students to have  a great school year.  Pastor Jesse sang Born to Serve the Lord today.  There were 15 people who went to Big Surf in Camdenton last Sunday, five adults and ten youth.  This was a trip planned by the youth group.  They enjoyed the day.
Pastor Jesse’s message was from 14 John 14: 10.  God loved us before we loved Him.  Love and serve Him because He first loved us.  What is the first thing you do when you get up in the morning?  We need to thank God for another day of life.
Do you fear Jesus?  Do you love Jesus?   Jesus is love and just.  When tragedy happens does God turn away from you?  We don’t love Jesus until we grow to appreciate Him.  Don’t let someone send you to hell.  Know the love of Jesus.  If Jesus is in you, you can overcome.
God comes first and  men should be the head of the household and women next.  How can you love God if you don’t love your brother?  First be God’s son or daughter.
SUNDAY IS 9:30 AM AND WORSHIP IS 10:30 AM.  BIBLE STUDY AND YOUTH GROUP IS AT 6 PM EACH WEDNESDAY EVENING.

The Glory Boys
I hear people say they led someone to the Lord. Really?
I hear people say they are a prayer warrior. Really?
I hear people say they have a great talent. How gifted they are. Really?
I hear preachers say they built a large church. Really?
I hear people say how beautiful they are. Really?
I hear people say how good of a Bible teacher or how a great preacher they are. Really?
I hear people say how smart they are. Really?
I hear people say how great an athlete they are. Really?
They wallow in their own so-called self glory.
They need to go eat a ton of humble pie.
Paul said, "God forbid that I would glory, saved in the cross of the Lord Jesus Christ." -Galatians 6:14
He also said, "Whether therefore ye eat or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God." -I Cor 10:31
Are you a glory boy?

In Matthew 8:14-22 we hear how Jesus stops at Peter’s home and finds his mother-in-law is sick. Jesus touches her hand, and she is healed. She has an encounter with the grace of God, and she now sees what Peter sees! She has seen who Jesus is and now she wants to serve the King of Kings! The people start bringing demon possessed people to her home and Jesus cast out demon after demon. He took sick people and made them well. What a trip of a day! She wakes up sick that morning and goes to bed that evening serving the Messiah, the Son of Man!
Matthew, the writer, wants people everywhere to know that Jesus of Nazareth is Christ the King, and the fulfillment of the Jewish prophecy. When the crowds kept coming, Jesus realized things were getting out of control, so they crossed to the other side of the lake. Here, a teacher of the law tells Jesus he will follow Him wherever He goes, and Jesus asks him if, he is sure? Jesus tells the teacher, where I’m going has no definitive end, no home. You will be giving up all the things you seem to hold most dear! The man says he needs to wait until his father passes so he will be around to bury him. Jesus says, if you’re going to follow me, follow me now!
We think of Jesus purely as the savior of mankind – He is the King of all whether we recognize and acknowledge it or not. We can be saved and set, or Jesus can be King! We say we love other people and community, yet we hold back. When we walk into our jobs, is Jesus King? Let’s change things. Let’s let Jesus be who He really is! Open our minds, open our hearts, let Jesus be our King! If He’s calling on our hearts, let’s not hold out on Him! Every step of the journey is worth it! When we walk with Jesus, every minute is worth it! Let’s join together and serve Jesus!

Unity Of The Lakes

This Sunday 8/20/23 Unity of The Lakes is blessed to have Rev. Baine Palmer as our guest speaker.  Rev. Palmer has over 35 years of experience serving churches in Memphis, TN; Eugene, OR, and Annapolis, MD.  He has also served in Silent Unity and has been the transitional minister for Greensboro, NC, Sartell, MN, and Annapolis, MD.
His service Sunday s "Bring Your Shine".  The scriptures tell us, "You are the light of the world" and "Let your light shine before all people". This implies we are always being the light the best way we know according to our "Spiritual Consciousness".  Life events touch our deepest emotions, however life events do not dim our lights.  Our minds turn our expression of light up or down.  It's not the events of our lives, rather it is how we think about and respond to them.  We lose our vibrant, bright selves if we allow our minds to cover us in dark clouds.  When and as we allow this to happen, we are allowing our mind to lead us, rather than our spiritual essence.
The question for each of us is; "Does my mind assign dark clouds or bright lights to my emotions?"
Service is 11 am, dress is casual and all are welcome.  Join us for refreshments and fellowship after service.  We are located 8 miles south of Warsaw on highway 65.  Our physical address is 34948 Hwy 65 South Warsaw, MO 65355.
Follow us on Facebook.  We have some exiting things coming up that are certain to feed your body, mind and soul.  We look forward to seeing you and your light.
