The Cole Camp R-1 School Board met in regular session with Board President, Marty Doogs, calling the meeting to order at 6 p.m. All members were present with the exception of Kevin Harms who arrived later.

First up was the approval of the Consent Agenda which consists of the minutes from the previous month, the bills for the month, September financials, bus ridership lists and the updated sub list.

Under the Public Comment segment no one appeared and the agenda moved to Curriculum specialist Amber Gladman presenting info to the Board on the most recent testing data. The Board was also presented with the annual monthly update on the construction project by Construction Manager at Risk, Septagon.

The Board didn’t receive a bid for snow removal but brainstormed some options for this service. The Board also approved the revised CSIP, the 2023-24 Audit, the current surplus property list and the annual West Central Coop by-laws. The Board also voted to purchase a 2022 Pacifica van for use by the district.

Reports were heard by the administrators and the CTA. Mr. Petersen shared information from RootEd regarding the work that Melanie Benitz is doing with the high school students.

Following an Executive session the Board approved the resignations of Sabrina Noland and the retirement of David Johnson, effective October 31. The Board approved the hiring of Dee Meyer as a cafeteria worker. Dalton Stonecipher was hired as an evening custodian, and Katie Johnson as the long term sub to finish out the 2024-25 school year for HS/JH language arts.

The next Board meeting was set for Tuesday, November 19 at 6 pm. The meeting was adjourned at 8:45 pm.
