Cole Camp Survives Boil Order Amidst Snow Storm

In the midst of the recent snow storm and blizzard like conditions Cole Camp residents also had to endure a boil order that lasted Wednesday, January 8 through Thursday, January 9, 2025.

What became a massive search for a busted water line in sub-zero temperatures began at approximately 3:30 PM. Councilman David Locke and Councilman Steve Knox joined forces with former Public Works Director, Roy Waggoner and the trio drove the streets searching for evidence of a broken line as the city had completely lost all water pressure.

Finally at 9:30 AM on Thursday, January 9, Waggoner checked the well house in Ezekiel Williams Park and found the problem. A pressure relief valve had opened and didn’t close. The pressure was at zero so a boil order was issued.

In addition, the sewer lift station failed when there was only one inexperienced employee on the public works crew and he was very sick. Waggoner graciously returned to his old job for a few hours a day to walk the young man through the repairs, saving the day so to speak. If you encounter Roy, take the time to thank him for his loving concern for the community.
