Dwight Lee Paneitz, 82, of rural Lincoln, passed away Sunday, August 9, 2026, at Kansas City Hospice House in Kansas City. He was born on March 16, 1944, in Bland, Missouri, a son of William F. and Irene E. (Danhuser) Paneitz.
He attended Buck Elk Elementary School west of Belle and graduated from Belle High School in 1962. While in high school, he played baseball and basketball. Dwight lived and worked on his dad's farm, hauled rock out the creek, baled hay for local farmers, and worked for Kingsford Charcoal in Belle where he had to load 40-ton of charcoal into box cars by 10 am daily. After graduating high school, he worked for O'Sullivan Industries in Owensville and Bull Moose Tubing Company in Gerald.
On September 29, 1966, he went to work driving a truck for Toedbusch Transfer in Kansas City. In 1968, Dwight was drafted into the United States Army during Vietnam. He attended basic training in Fort Sill, Oklahoma, and was a member of Co B 4th Military Police till his discharge in April of 1970. He then worked for Anderson Trucking Company in Kansas City. Dwight was a truck driver for 42 years, retiring in 2009 from Averrit Express in Cookville, Tennessee.
In 2014, he moved to Sagrada Beach and was a member of the Countryside Aerie Eagles Lodge No. 4286 of Lincoln. Dwight enjoyed growing up on the farm, fishing and hunting, and hanging out with his best furry friend, Shadow.
He is survived by his three children, Lisa Paneitz, Shanon Paneitz, and Kristin Paneitz Ball; and three grandchildren.
Dwight was preceded in death by his parents, William and Irene Paneitz, a brother, Charles Edward Paneitz, and his beloved dog, Shadow.
Graveside services were held at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at Brushy Cemetery near Lincoln. Arrangements are under the direction of the Fox Funeral Home, Cole Camp. foxfuneralhomecolecampmo.com.
