Eileen V. McGinnis, 78, of Warsaw, passed away Saturday, October 18, 2025, at Research Medical Center in Kansas City. She was born February 17, 1947, in Breckenridge, Minnesota, the daughter of Arthur George Whaley and Alvera Mathilda (Klindworth) Whaley. Eileen grew up in Illinois, where she also attended high school.
On August 7, 1989, she was united in marriage to Harold “Mac” McGinnis. The couple later made their home in Warsaw, where Eileen became a devoted member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church. She was especially passionate about Operation Christmas Child, a ministry that sends gift-filled shoeboxes to children in need around the world. Eileen was instrumental in helping the church deliver hundreds of these gifts, sharing the message of Jesus Christ and His love with children near and far.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold “Mac” McGinnis, in October 2024; sisters Suzanne Whaley and Patricia Ginger; and brothers Jay and Richard Whaley.
Survivors include five children: Kevin Ricketta of Biloxi, Mississippi; Kelly McGinnis of Kansas City, Kansas; Jimmy Howell (Jody) of Belton, Missouri; Phyllis Hartegan of Warsaw; and Kerry Honeycutt (Eddie) of Warsaw. She also leaves behind fourteen grandchildren — Josh, Johnathan, Jessie, Jacob, Jonah, Jedediah, Jaren, Jessee, James, Elizabeth, Eddie, Dustin, Brianna, and Beau — and three great-grandchildren: Ryder, Cruse, and Theo, with another expected soon.
In addition, Eileen is survived by three sisters: Phyllis Fields (David) of Elkhart, Indiana; Betty Camper (Tom) of Galesburg, Illinois; and Mary Sexton (Russell), also of Galesburg. She will be remembered fondly by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and many friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at Cedar Grove Baptist Church in Warsaw.
