The Empowering Lives Center is holding a fried chicken and catfish fillet fundraiser on Friday, May 16, 3:00 PM-7:00 PM and also on Saturday, May 17, 11:00 AM-7:00 PM at the Center’s location at 307 E. Locust Street, Lincoln, MO.

Diners will have a choice of 3 pieces of fried chicken, two sides, drink, and dessert, or 2 pieces catfish fillet, with two sides, drink, and dessert, for $14. The proceeds of the fried chicken and catfish fillet fundraiser will be used to benefit and empower the lives of displaced/homeless individuals.

Empowering Lives Center is a non-profit group which Maria Robinson, CEO and Founder, started about a year ago after she had observed displaced/homeless individuals in Lincoln and surrounding area. She said she felt that the Lord was calling her to do something to aid people with housing challenges. Initially she provided food and supplies from her own home until December, 2024 when Empowering Lives was able to rent the former Producers Exchange building at 307 E. Locust Street in Lincoln.

In addition to providing food, clothes, and other supplies, the Empowering Lives Center empowers individuals by providing computers to apply for jobs and build resumes and refers individuals to outside programs to build independent living skills. The goal of the Center is to provide a compassionate and supportive environment that empowers individuals to help themselves to achieve self-sufficiency and independence.

The Empowering Lives Center is open Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, 9:00 AM-3:00 PM offering food, clothes, and hygiene facilities to those in need. The Center also served as a warming shelter during the frigid temperatures during January and February. Empowering Lives Center is dependent on fundraisers and private donations for food, supplies, and maintenance of the Center.
