Fristoe News

Posted

Well, here I am hoping to start this year off right by writing my Fristoe News column as I have failed to do so 2 out of the last 4 weeks. Again, I will say how sorry I am to not meet the schedules needed to get the paper in circulation. But Jimmy White has been so nice about it, and Adam Howe also. I am going to try better, okay!

Up until yesterday, the weather has been very cooperative, but yesterday evening moisture moved into the forecast; moisture that was rain, freezing rain, sleet and even snow in places. This moisture, along with power outages, has really caused problems. Most all churches in the Fristoe, Cross Timbers and Climax Springs area were canceled on Sunday (the first Sunday of 2025) morning. The temperature is dropping to much below freezing and not rising to more than above freezing until Wednesday, January 8.

I have a sad note to put in my column this week as my husband Dean's niece, Tammy West Hampton, only 52 years old, passed away unexpectedly last week. Tammy is the oldest daughter of Dean's sister Edna, and her husband Lennie West of Wheatland. Tammy leaves behind two children and three grandchildren. We send much sympathy to this family.

Also sympathy to Judy Noland on the death of her son, Kevin this weekend. I went to school with Judy 12 years and appreciated her much. I know Judy is feeling very broken hearted and we offer her condolences and much peace in this time!

Asking prayers this week for Kathy First, Lewis Retherford, Bud Hatch, Gladys Harris, and remember Mary Scarbrough's family!

I am sending a GREAT BIG Happy Birthday shoutout to my son, Randy Reno on his 51st birthday! A few days before he was born, the weather was much like these days. Happy birthday Randy on January 10!

As mentioned earlier, Fristoe Pentecostal Lighthouse Church did not hold church on Sunday morning, January 5, due to the horrible weather. Hopefully everything will straighten out and get back to normal this week!

Thought for the week: What we say is a coincidence is when God remains anonymous! Being content isn't getting what we want it is being satisfied with what we have!

Hoping all who read the Benton County Enterprise has a wonderful and safe week!
