Gaylan H. Masoner

Gaylan H. Masoner, age 75, of Independence, Missouri, passed away on Friday, November 28, 2025, at Centerpoint Hospital.

He was born on May 27, 1950, in Washington State, the son of Granville “Bud” Masoner and Winifred (Heimer) Masoner. Gaylan grew up in Warsaw, where he attended school and graduated from Warsaw High School in 1968.

On September 27, 1974, Gaylan was united in marriage to Janet Smith. He built his career in the automotive industry, working for Durham Chevrolet and later for Paul Shinn Chevrolet in Warsaw. In 1986 he moved to Independence, continuing his work for Chevrolet dealerships in the Kansas City area. In 1991, he married Nancy Morris, who survives of the home.

Gaylan is also survived by his three children: Barbara Schroder and her husband Mike of Warsaw; Wade Masoner and his wife Amy of Holts Summit; and Eric Masoner and his wife Jennifer of Warsaw. He leaves behind his cherished grandchildren—Megan Schroder Holloway and her husband Chris; Emma Schroder Murtic and her husband Armin; Kristoffer Masoner; Kristen Masoner Hager and her husband Cody; and Katie Masoner Triplett and her husband David; and Hazel and Dominic Masoner—as well as three great-grandchildren, Rowyn, Deacon and Dawson. He is further survived by his brother, Warren Masoner of Sedalia.

Arrangements for his cremation are under the direction of Reser Funeral Home in Warsaw. A service in Independence will be held at a later date.
