Gregory James Jurgensmeyer, age 63, of Montrose, Missouri passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 4, 2024 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri with his wife and children by his side.
Greg was born on May 24, 1961, to James and Mary (Vogel) Jurgensmeyer in Appleton City, Missouri.
Greg was a simple and good man. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and eating home-cooked meals. He delighted in his wife and children, enjoying the sweet times together, especially during the Christmas season. He considered himself immensely blessed with wonderful family, siblings, and friends.
Greg had a passion for woodworking and was known for his beautiful carpentry. He worked for Gary Vass for many years, building homes and cabinets around the area.
Greg had great faith and loved the Lord dearly. Over the past few years, he has attended Life Ministries. He always enjoyed the Men’s Fellowship group and listening to the Word being preached.
Greg is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Earl Jurgensmeyer, and his baby sister Rose Jurgensmeyer.
Survivors include his wife Phyllis of the home, four children: Joshua Jurgensmeyer, Joyce Damaske (Lucas Damaske), BettyAnn (Nathan) Sharon, Jacob Jurgensmeyer, and one granddaughter on the way, along with many brothers and sisters, nieces and nephews, and many for family and friends.
Funeral services were held July 10, 2024 at the Vansant-Mills Chapel, Clinton with Pastor Jerry Baughman officiating, and Joshua Jurgensmeyer as special speaker. The casket bearers were Jacob Jurgensmeyer, Nathon Sharon, Wesley Fellhoelter, Joshua Jurgensmeyer, Lucas Damaske and Kendal Fellhoelter. Soloist, Sherri Preston, and guitarist, Charlie Sanders performed “Amazing Grace and I’ll Fly Away.” Interment followed in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Montrose, Missouri.
Services were under the direction of Vansant-Mills Funeral Home of Clinton, MO.
