Windsor Preseason
Sports Reports

Baseball: Head coach Brad Forrest and assistant coach Trenton Thompson return to coach the WHS baseball team that had a 19-7 record. Among their losses to graduation included Avyn Burkhart, Parker Craig, and Coby Rhoads. All three notched post-season honors. But that leaves plenty of returning starters for the 2025 campaign. Coach Forrest noted Reece Heany, Carter Miller, Brayden Pipal, Conner Barnes, Robb Hadley, Jude Burkhart, and Adam Hurd as key Greyhounds coming back. The Greyhounds had eighteen athletes out for the opening days of practice.
The Greyhounds first game is this Friday with a road game at Concordia. A new opponent for Windsor this year is Leeton who hosts Windsor April 26. Windsor’s first home game is against Sherwood April 27.
Coach Forrest has put together a several good seasons in a row and hopes are high this spring. The Greyhounds have goals of winning conference, district and moving onto state.

Golf: Jack and Wendy Daugherty return to coach the golf team for the Greyhounds. Parker Hampton and Seth Roberts were lost to graduation in 2024. Jack Daugherty noted, “Parker especially was a big loss. He was our number one golfer for the last two years. He had much success in the program and was a leader of the team. He was all conference, a state qualifier, and finished in top half in state.”
Windsor has fifteen golfers out for the squad. Daugherty commented, “Chase Hampton (Junior) and Camden Harrison (Senior) are my two top performers from last year returning. Both put in a lot of work in the summer and are fighting to take over the number one spot that Parker held. Last year they shot good rounds at districts but narrowly missed the cut. I expect them both to be state qualifiers this year.”
Daugherty added, “We had lots of players play golf throughout the summer. It has become tough for Windsor not to have a hometown golf course anymore, but we still have dedicated golfers who will drive and pay to play and stay sharp through the summer. We hosted a camp this summer at Clinton Country Club and even invited junior high students to come and learn the game in hopes of inspiring future players. The Country Club offered WHS golfers a discounted price for membership. Six players took advantage of the discount. We also have a location for our golf simulator, and players come in early before school to hit on it.”
Daugherty stated, “My goals for this season would be to perform well at conference and to have a chance to take a team to state. With Tipton switching conferences and Smithton not having a team, I think Windsor might rank first this year for the conference. Cole Camp has been the golf giant for a few years now, but they lost two of their starters.”
Windsor opens the season with the Hounds Invitational at the Clinton Country Club on April 24.
