Harvey George (Sammy Pat) Holloway passed away peacefully at home in Blue Springs, MO on July 18th, 2025 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Warsaw, MO to Harvey Dale Holloway and Georgia Brown. He was united in marriage to Janet Rice September 26th,1959 and had two sons, Andy (Nancy) and Kenny (Jill).
Harvey graduated from Warsaw High School in 1955 and attended UCM in Warrensburg before joining the Marine Corp. Harvey excelled at basketball at all three institutions, but playing ball with his kids and grandkids brought him the most joy.
After leaving the Marine Corp, he passed up the opportunity to play basketball at Pepperdine University in California after he met the love of his life Janet while on a visit back to Warsaw. Together they moved to Kansas City where Harvey joined the KCPD. After several years, he took the opportunity to work for Sears in multiple managerial positions until he retired in 1996. After retirement, he was able to fill his time with his dream job, working at Adams Pointe golf course.
A highly involved father, Harvey coached numerous baseball teams for his boys where he touched and influenced many young lives. He also served as commissioner for Blue Springs Baseball Little League. He rarely missed a game or event for his grandkids. There were many days spent fishing and golfing with his sons and grandson.
Harvey was a proud grandfather to his grandchildren, Lance Holloway (Bridget) of Kansas City MO, Abby Byrd (Chance) of Blue Springs MO and Annie Holloway of Lee's Summit. He played hours of P-I-G in the driveway with them and hired them to pick up all the stickerballs in the backyard. The grandkids fondly remember sharing Dr. Peppers and ice cream while taking turns sitting with him in his leather recliner.
Harvey was also a great-grandfather to three, Wells Harvey, Myers, and Daphne Byrd.
In lieu of flowers you can make a donation in his name to the Salvation Army.
