Have I Got A Line For You!

Many things in the news are worrisome these days, but around here a lot of nice things are happening. Jubilee Days in Warsaw gets underway June 4, Flag Day is June 14, the first day of summer is June 21 and Old Glory Days in Clinton begins on July 3. The Strawberry Moon will fly on June 11 and will be brilliant in the night sky. It’s named for the Algonquin Tribes who used it as a signal to gather ripening fruit. That same moon made the Osage River fordable for steamboats. But let’s get back to Jubilee Days here. This celebration always brings to mind Jubilee Days Ham that was included in a cookbook written by the late Esther Bibb and her son Rick. Esther was born on the family farm near Knobby, Missouri and was part of the last rural generation of farmers who persevered without today’s modern conveniences. The town of Edwards, Missouri is named after her forbears. Esther has been gone for some years, but her quotes and graciousness live on through her cookbook.

New York is showing a Brooklyn couple who’s really in charge of private property and it isn’t, “We the people.” They’re demanding a pair of landlords pay $160,000 for the relocation of squatters who took over their property. One of the squatters is a convicted sex offender and two others are illegal immigrants. UNBELIEVABLE! Just goes to show that none of us really “own” our property; government is the real landlord. Don’t pay your taxes and watch how quick the eviction is. The way things are going, it won’t be long before car-jacking victims have to purchase a car for the person who stole it.

What else . . . ran across an article that says the world will end in 2050. Remember when it was supposed to end in 2012 based on a Mayan calendar prediction? At least I hope it was 2012, I don’t really dwell on this. Anyway, on a science page on the internet this morning, the writer said many of their members believe we are entering a new Ice Age. It’s supposed to start in Europe and spread to the U.S. and Canada. Well, it happened before on our planet and will probably happen again. Oh, I forgot one important thing and it’s HUGE! Before this ice age starts, we’re supposed to have a polar shift. The North Pole will shift to Europe. If true, this will cause all kinds of commotions and storms.

Enough of this! Keep an eye out though. Lord knows what craziness is going to happen next. Meanwhile, let’s give thanks that our world still has nice things in it like Jubilee Days, Old Glory Days and night skies with a Strawberry Moon. You bet! Take care of yourself Old Buddy.
