Have I Got A Line For You!

Major networks were a busy place last night. They had three “Breaking News” stories going on at the same time.
One was the Menendez brother’s who killed their parents in 1989. They could be walking free within a few weeks if they are “Re-sentenced to manslaughter.” How can killing two people watching TV on the sofa be considered manslaughter? It was premeditated. The motive of the murders is the key. Did they kill their parents for money or did they want to end the abuse and were scared for their own lives? Only the brothers know the real answers.
The second event was a Virginia Judge who stopped the state from taking non-citizens off their voter rolls. Judge Giles was appointed by President Biden. UNBELIEVABLE! What country in the world allows non-citizens to vote?
And the third event was The Donald’s big rally at Madison Square Garden. Some news outlets compared it to a Nazi rally. Put it to rest! Let’s get back to the days of saying we disagree and say what we believe government should or shouldn’t be involved in. Bet the impeachment proceedings will start the minute he’s elected. President Obama got a Nobel Peace Prize without doing anything. The Donald got an impeachment the same way.

Ran across the latest Titanic Special last night. James Cameron went back to locate artifacts before the giant ship collapses on itself. Bacteria are devouring the iron. One of the items he’s looking for is a jeweled copy of the Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam. When I was very young, the Enterprise had a late Tuesday night deadline. Occasionally, I was allowed to stay up and see the action. Millie Kauffman, who was always so good to me, would open the dictionary and point out the drawing of the jin-rickshaw. Not sure why I was so fascinated with this. If reincarnation is possible, perhaps I was Japanese in a previous lifetime. Back to the Rubaiyat though. The only verse I can recall is from the middle of that poem. It started out with, “Up to the 7th Gate I Rose.”

Daylight savings time ends on Sunday, November 3. Election Day is Tuesday, November 5 and Thanksgiving will fall on November 28. What’s next? Or maybe we really don’t want to know. My Grandmother White used to say, when something went askew, “Trouble’s good for you, it makes you tough!” Indeed it does. Take care of yourself of Old Buddy.
