More things are spinning out of the wash in our nation’s capital. The latest is the CIA silenced the Defense Department from briefing President Biden on the origins of Covid. It leaked out of a lab in Wuhan, China. Not a surprise to many of us. A Chinese military researcher applied for a Covid patent weeks before the virus was sequenced in 2020. He later died after “falling” from the roof of the Wuhan Institute. U.S. investigators say it was an accidental lab leak. Where’s the evidence that it wasn’t an intentional release of a bio-engineered weapon? Here we are with another supposed conspiracy theory that turns out to be true. No one in our government will be held accountable for not briefing the President. They never are; that’s the problem. Look for a pre-emptive pardon for the good Doctor Fauci before Uncle Joe leaves office.

Brace yourselves! The CDC announced the first Bird Flu mutation has migrated to a human. The director said she’s keeping a close on this and plans are in the works to produce a vaccine if needed. Ah, just in time for a new administration. I wonder what scientist in what country played with this virus? Inquiring minds want to know! At this point, I trust the CDC about as much as I trust politicians. Bet members of Congress have started to ramp up their investments in big pharma. I have a hunch they’re getting ready to throw all kinds of nefarious things at The Donald.

Wasn’t much on last night and I stumbled across Cujo. Remember the novel by Stephen King? And the movie starring Dee Wallace who’s family is terrorized by a rabid Saint Bernard in Castle Rock, Maine. Cujo was never vaccinated for rabies and after being bitten by a bat, he bit just about everyone. The book was banned by most schools (Yes, this did happen in the 1980’s) and made most of us want to read it even more. It was an exceptionally scary book and my mother told Freda Scott, our librarian in Warsaw, that I wasn’t to check it out. I was ten or eleven at the time, so I read it in the library behind some bookshelves.

As I write this, another holiday looms . . . New Year’s Day. That will be the last big one for most of us until Memorial Day weekend. February has 28 days in 2025 and Easter is on April 20.
Enough of this! I’ve wandered around from Covid to Bird Flu to Cujo. I hope the New Year will be the best you’ve ever had and you spot the blue bird of happiness. But don’t let it fly up your nose Old Buddy.
