Hazel Ruth Patterson, age 81, of Warsaw, Missouri, passed away on August 11, 2025, at CenterPoint Hospital in Independence, Missouri. She was born on January 25, 1944, in Chatfield, Minnesota, the daughter of Guy and Catherine Smith.
On December 1, 1961, Hazel was united in marriage to the love of her life, Ronnie Patterson. Together, they were blessed with two children, Donnie and Catherine.
Hazel was an extraordinary seamstress, lovingly crafting Barbie doll clothes for her grandchildren. She had a special fondness for birds—especially owls—and a deep love for reading, devouring any book she could get her hands on. She also loved animals of all kinds, always showing them kindness and care. Above all, Hazel was devoted to her husband and family, who brought her the greatest joy in life.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Robert Smith.
Hazel is survived by her beloved husband, Ronnie Patterson of the home; her son, Donnie Patterson and his wife Karen, of Greenville, South Carolina; her daughter, Catherine Andrews and her husband Bud, of Lake Arrowhead, California; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and many cherished family members and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, September 23th at 11:00 AM at Reser Funeral Home in Warsaw, Missouri. Interment will follow at Mineral Creek Cemetery in Leeton, Missouri.
