James L. Goss

James Leonard Goss, 88, of rural Sedalia, Missouri passed away on Sunday, June 7, 2026, at Bothwell Regional Health Center. He was born on October 8, 1937, on a farm near LaMonte, Missouri, a son of the late Charles "Leonard" and Rosemary (Cole) Goss.

On April 11, 1959, he united in marriage for 67 years to Joyce Marie Smasal, who survives at the home. They were married at St Patrick's Catholic Church, Springfork, Missouri.

He attended school at St John's Catholic School, Bahner, Missouri. James worked at Pittsburgh Corning Corporation in Sedalia, Missouri for 40 years, retiring in 1995. He was also a farmer, where he enjoyed raising cattle well into his later years. James enjoyed collecting antique tractors, but he was most passionate about spending quality time with his beloved family.

James is survived by three children, Kenneth Goss of Florence, South Carolina, Linda (Allen) Young of Sedalia, Missouri, and Glen (Julie) Goss of Columbia, Missouri, and seven grandchildren; Jimmy (Carmen) Goss, Ashton (David) Cisneros, Kendall Goss, Cole (Gabby) Goss, Lindsey (Miles) Curry, Grant Goss, and Lauren Goss, and six great grandchildren; Callie and Caelyn Goss, Marie Cisneros, Myla and Emma Curry and Fletcher Goss. Also surviving are two sisters, Joan Smasal and Shirley (Frank) Dick, along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and extend family members.

In addition to his parents, James was proceeded in death by his son, James E. Goss, a grandson, Garrett Young, daughters-in-law Lisa (Ken) Goss and Arden (James E.) Goss, a sister, Delores Maples, a brother, Richard Goss, a brother-in-law, Leo Smasal, and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Lemmon.
Honoring James's request a private family funeral was held on June 11, 2026, at Fox Funeral Home in Cole Camp, Missouri, and graveside services followed at St Patrick's Catholic Cemetery, Springfork, Missouri.
