John W. Kruger

John W. Kruger, age 66, of Warsaw, passed away Thursday, January 29, 2026, at his home.

John was born on August 22, 1959, in Laverne, Minnesota, the son of Harvey Kruger and Carol (Petit) Poppenga. He grew up in Laverne and graduated from Laverne High School.

John was first united in marriage to Valarie Reece. They made their home in Minnesota and later moved to Edmond, Oklahoma. One daughter, Christine, was born to this union. John later married Kathy McDaniel, and they made their home in Oklahoma. One son, Brock, was born to this union. In October 14, 2000, John married Kitty Kruger, and they made their home in Warsaw. Kitty preceded him in death on May 12, 2018.

John enjoyed bass fishing, boating, riding Wave Runners, and his version of “going golfing,” which included long golf cart rides around the neighborhood—no golf clubs required.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Kitty Kruger; his father, Harvey Kruger; his son, Brock Kruger; and two brothers, Louie Kruger and Paul Kruger.

John is survived by his mother, Carol Poppenga; five children: Christine Kruger of Lincoln, Missouri, Charles Lapan of Warsaw, Missouri, Kindra Harms of Lincoln, Missouri, Micah McDaniel of Stillwater, Oklahoma and Josh McDaniel of Cleo Springs, Oklahoma; his companion, Jeri Meloy; five brothers and five sisters; numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives; and many friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 9, 2026, at Reser Funeral Home, 101 W. Main Street, Warsaw. Interment will follow the service at Shawnee Cemetery in Warsaw.
